Assuming this is correct, when do you think the C8 RS6 will be on UK roads? And do we have any idea what engine it will have?

Who knows. 2019 at a guess, maybe later.

I guess there's reasonable possibility of it being hybrid.

Autocar covered this a while back ,so the article may be out of date, but they said the platform would get V8 engines from a joint Audi-Porsche project called Kovomo.

Hybrid would be a new venture for RS! 2019, good, so current shape will be fresh for a good while longer....

Think it's a little early to be speculating on the next engine. Having said that, unless I manage to expand my family from just me to wife+2.4 kids in the next few years, I don't think I'll be getting another 6-sized car anyway.

Not really. The Kovomo engine programme seems to be already very well developed and will provide Audi's next generation of V8 engines. I think it is reasonable to assume it will make it into the RS6.

It looks like a squared off Tesla to my eyes. Not a fan of these new shapes; the Q7, A4 and R8 have been a step in wrong the direction for me.

I hope the RS treatment sorts out the looks! It will be interesting to see if it adopts the electric turbo from the SQ7 though, as Audi have suggest it's just the start for its application.

This is my predicament at the moment...

I've ordered the C7 which is on hold until they announce options for adding Carplay etc. I'm buying this as a car to keep for the long run with a hefty deposit on a PCP scheme. If the C8 is just around the corner after I receive my C7, I'm gonna be really pissed.

C7 A6 - 2011
C7 S6 - 2012
C7 RS6 - 2013

C8 A6 - 2017
C8 S6 - 2018
C8 RS6 - 2019

I suspect the C8 will follow the same path as the C7 with an RS6 release some 2yrs later.

2019 is a hell of a long way away, you may be 6ft under by then.

Yep, live for today!

Although, just to put a fly in the ointment, Audi launched the R8 V10 Plus from launch... not quite saving the best til last! I don't understand why they did this, but you could argue they're not concerned about leaving the 'best' version until later in the lifecycle. Could we therefore see the RS6 far sooner this time?

Audi has said quite recently that they will start to release the S/RS models earlier in the life cycles'. Previous generations like the earlier RS3 was almost launched in the last year of production.

But I must say that Leo's estimated timeline seems about right depending at what time of the year the "normal" car is launched. Look the the latest A4 where the S4 was almost launched directly after the normal version.
