So my car was registered May 14 (i think this may be relevant) and I got a service light pop up this week (27 days or 4xxx miles). Car is on approx 15k miles from new.
Thing is, I only had a full service (well, oil etc) at the stealers last October so figured this was a bit keen.
I did a bit of research and Audi of America recommends a major service at the 2 year anniversary, my local stealer knew nothing about this and figured it just needed an inspection check.
Anyone got any thoughts, facts, intelligent sounding guesses on what the right thing to do/get is?
Thanks

Re: Service Indicator...
Strange that Audi America would have the B8 RS4 on its list as far as im aware they never got the B8 RS4
i would say as long as your servicing the car as per scheduled you'll be fine

Re: Service Indicator...
Checking the obvious; was the service computer reset when you had it serviced in October?
2 years and 19k miles is possible for an AVS set car..

Re: Service Indicator...
At least here down under RS4 B8 servicing schedule is 15k km (10k miles) OR annually, whichever comes first. From what you say I would question the service indicator reset at last service... Not sure, but there may be 2 parameters to reset, time and mileage - if you have done appr. 6k miles since October this would explain.
Re: Service Indicator...
Mine came on after 14 months and 5800 miles. Not too bothered as I feel an oil and filter change can be nothing but beneficial.
I have been told by someone who should know, that if your car has a service plan or the first two services 'free' with Audi finance, some dealerships automatically set the servicing regime at fixed servicing rather than variable, unless you specifically request variable.
As I see it, the gearbox and diff oil changes are mileage rather than time specific, so getting the vehicle in earlier with lower mileage and fixed service intervals keeps the 'free' serving costs down for Audi. If they were to do the first two services at 20k and 40k then the servicing costs would be quite high, whereas two services at 5k and 10k is just basically engine oil and filters as the 20k mark hasn't been reached. Bit of a swizz really.....

Re: Service Indicator...
Interesting. I just bought a TDI daily driver with 8500 miles on the clock and two services thrown in, the salesman said there was no time or mileage restriction. If I wanted, I could even pay myself for the first oil change at 18 months and use the free services for more expensive services 3 years (and the one and after)
