Get home yesterday to find some g#t has kindly reversed into me and badly dented the boot on my Avant by the licence plate at the top...which can only mean it was done by a tall vehicle......just after I spent £1600 on a new gearbox too!!!! AHHHHH when will it end?? Off to the bodyshop for a quote I may get the crack in the front bumper done which was kindly done by an old fart in a 7 series Beemer (I didnt see him do it but I could see my paint on his bumper (between all the parking sensors)...along with just about every other colour too).

Ahhh....I feel better now....its all about sharing!

Sorry to hear the news, but sounds like you're more vulnerable with the attitude and habits of London drivers.

Have the same problem, and always looking for innotive ways of keeping it out of the way of morons who believe it's their right to hit your car so they can get into a space. These include:

1. Hogging two spaces.
2. CCTV.
3. Taking the number of cars parked close just in case you come back and it's been hit.
4. A traffic cone up against each bumper.
5. Taking the car to the dealer for a service or similar, and leaving it there for as long as possible in their nice clean safe underground car park. That's where mine is now, phone periodically to say the dog is ill or something.
6. And my latest one, sell up and move to the country.

Anyone else have any other unique ideas?

erm I thought of leaving it in the garage until my No 3 son decided he wanted the mini moto out the back of the garage and caught the rear bumper with the foot rest Have to say though in her deffence, other half took the blame until with some help of Mr Smirnoff, she confessed the truth

Snap. Until a few weeks ago I had a matching front wing on my 550!!! I'd like to catch them just about to drive off.....

BTW, nice car, looks like a Zagato unless I'm mistaken??

Yep, it is a 7 Zag. Don't know about you, but I feel I don't want to drive the car while it's like that, it's as if it's been defiled in some way.

I know exactly what you mean. It takes all your pleasure away from owning the car and it feels like it will never be quite the same again. The more special the car the worse the feeling I think and a Zagato is very special! Hang in there I'm sure time will help you to feel better about it eventually, once its sorted.

If its any consolation its not just idiots in cars and vans who do this sort of thing. My father had an almost identical crease put in the front wing of his 24valve Ford Probe by a cow a few years back. (and I do mean the 4 legged black and white variety) The bloody thing just sat on the car when we parked it in a field. It was successfully pulled out by a bodywork specialist but I assume the Aston is aluminium, maybe more tricky- hope not.

Completely agree. It took 2 months to sort out the 550 (Italians - don't you just love 'em). During that time the weather was great, I had some great business trips lined up that would've suited the 550 perfectly...... and all that time I couldn't even bring myself to open the garage doors and look at it.

Although, now it looks perfect again, the trouble is I'm too paranoid to take it out anywhere that I've never been before, in case the parking arrangements aren't up to scratch. That said, I'd be equally as pee'd off if the RS6 ended up getting smacked too.

Hmmm.... now where did I put that Autotrader (Bargain Cars section).....

5 doesn't work. I have picked my car up twice now from the dealers sporting extra bumper scuffs. Fotunately I always get them to fully inspect it befoe I leave it, so any marks can be accounted for.

Oh, and 6 doesn't always work either, especially when you get to$$ers aiming at you down narrow country roads !

I do feel for you guys with the cars sporting damage. This is exactly why we run an old car too (known as the red shed). Trouble is, that doesn't help when you want to take the nice cars out for a play...
