C7 gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

I do love my car play on the 996 I've fitted. That's a big plus for me

Well, there's nowt on the Audi website about this. Though looks like C7 will be lingering for a while if this is the case.

Retrofit of this stuff is oft possible subject to cost and much dismantling of the car. I suspect this will be hardware and software changes, likely to be very involved.

Bum - I really wanted Apple CarPlay and the slightly older nature of the RS6 internal audio toys was a bit of a put off.

Matt Nardo, Matt Glacier White, Matt Sepang, Matt Silver will also become available in MY17 apparently.

Should be just a sw update for FL cars. In theory, if Audi's sales pitch is to be believed, they should - eventually - upgrade the FL cars officially through the dealers.

Usually any time from around July- September in the preceding year, so MY17 cars should be in owners' hands in the summer of this year.

Is it actually a full MY update? I suspect it's a derivative of FL.

I've yet to see Audi apply functional software updates to any of the range so would be surprised if this was offered FOC to current C7 RS6 customers.

It actually looks like a 2nd PI on the A6. If so will be the the 1st time I think that they have had 2 in between new models. It also doesn't look like they will move to MY17 at bw22. Probably be a little after that. Nothing on Audi desktop yet.

I agree, really unlikely current FL cars will be updated.

Don't get me wrong. I, too, cannot imagine Audi updating the car with the new software. But when the FL was launched with the new MMI, Audi specifically made the point that one of the benefits of the new architecture is that the MMI functionality can be updated in existing cars to keep them current. They just missed out the additional one-word sentence "Theoretically." from the press release.

I suspect the marketing people just made a mountain over being able to do updates / over the air updates. I doubt Car Play will be compatible, but would love to be proved wrong. It's a whole new program rather than an update. For starters - does it even work without a touch screen?
