I spoke to an expert at mtm in germany, he actually advised me not to get spacers. Its simply not good for the car
Why???
Here becomes trouble with my english, but im gonna try.
Also spoke to the guys who did jons car, stertmann, highly skilled audi tuner, same answer, not recommended bad fpr car.
It puts too high strain not on the wheels themselves but the stuff that mounts the wheel and more. Uh sorry for my english being bad. I was really considering spacers but im gonna follow mtm and stertmanns advice.
Stertmann spoke did a comparison. Say that you have a weight straight on your body, then lift your arm the furthest you can away from your body, then add 600+hp, that convinced me.
Nevertheless, It really looks good! maybe non of us are gonna be troubled by getting spacers, maybe the car more takes a beating over years and some not so lucky gets the receipt for spacers, what do i know, im certainly not mechanicly knowledgeable.

I've never fitted spacers personally. As with any mod the question is whether it is roughly within manufacturer design tolerances or outside of it. I doubt modest spacers will have any disastrous affect.

The issue is people who see it as black and white. I for one will not be taking my car on track so it will not be tested to the extreme. Also, whilst there are different options on the market, the majority are now hub-centric. The likes of H&R have TUV approval which means they have been tested and certified as safe - what more do you need?

I can appreciate everyone having an opinion, but it gets annoying when people state it like it is a case of being right and wrong. Let's remember that something else connected to your wheels - tyres - are still handmade and are subject to fail to a far higher probability than spacers from a reputable manfuacturer.

Next we'll be onto that other myth of how lowering springs will ruin your dampers and kill you in a ball of fire.

This chap speaks sense!!!

Alright to lower cars, chip them, basrardise exhausts, add different size wheels and tyres, after market brakes etc etc etc....BUT you can't fit TUV approved spacers!!

Anyway I'm bored with this now....apologies to the original poster who's had his thread hi jacked.

Passengers... It's your captain here.

To make our 747 fleet look better in photographs we have installed TUV approved spacers on our wheels.

We are assured by the manufacturer of these spacers that they pose no risk - although unapproved by boeng and our insurers. Also the AAIB are a little unsure.

......

B

I could go on, spectators - to make our race cars look better in photos, we've installed spacers - erm be clear that if that does result in an off we maybe unable to satisfy any insurance claims.

Blaah blaah - guys i'll do an exhaust thing, considder software, but stick another moving part in the mix??? Guys it's not that i don't like spacers, i just cannot figure why? Will you pull more women, impress more people, feel more satisfied with your 100k estate cars?

Naah it's daft.

HiYa Guys, the geek in me watches crap on YouTube.

Here's a video on Suspension and Spacers / and the effects.

For Spacers it starts at 6:40

https://youtu.be/K_JlpS_QDgM

Looks like my thought of bending studs is wrong, the effects are very different.

So not much then,

increasing scrub radius is a good thing, increases turn in reducing under steer. I use spacers and track width on my karts to get them to behave in a certain way. nothing surprising in what he describes. Increasing the rear track will give better rear end stability when braking, while on the front it may increase how it tram lines and darts about under braking.

I was trying to be funny, gee everyone's so serious

People who want spacers on will put them on period. Some cars even come with that option.

Yep, I agree. But more should do so understanding the physics behind their actions.
