Servicing

Post by DrB » Mon Apr 11, 2016 6:45 pm

I just had a slightly frustrating conversation with my Audi dealer today... I hope to get me car at the weekend, and was discussing the service and maintenance monthly scheme. I have decided not to go for it, as it seems quite pricey (between £50-99 per month, service - service, maintenance and tyres). I spoke to Andy at A for Audi (Glasgow), who I have known for many years, and who runs a well respected Audi Specialist garage, and he reassured me that he could take care of my car for a much better price. However, I mentioned this to the Audi garage, and they were not impressed, stating that my car would not have a full Audi service history, and would affect the residual value....

What are everyones thoughts on this? I have used Unit 20 and MRC in the past, when living elsewhere in the past, and they are well know trusted garages. However, does that mean if you use them to service your car, you risk devaluing it? That statement really got my back up!!

It is against to law to refuse any warranty claim as long as genuine parts are used, however.... If you do flip it quickly it may affect resale as people do tend to prefer stealers in the early years.

What most do is servicing at main dealer and everything else with people who know what they are doing. No probs with that approach

Just a thought but why don't you consider arranging your service at an official Audi dealer on your European trips at a fraction of the stupid costs here.

That. Just get the required services done at a Main dealer so the Service book looks good & all other consumables such as interim oil changes, pads, discs & tyres etc. done at an Indy for about 50% of the cost.
