I have no affiliation with MRC, but I am genuinely amazed no one has ever complained about them. AMD on the other had has mixed reviews.

Ben's way of doing "customer service" can be off-putting at first but if you're direct and make the effort then he's fine. However if you're a quiet person you'll be sat in the waiting area for 8hrs plus without ever being spoken to, except to maybe ask if you want a cup of tea. If you make the effort to chat then most times Ben and the mechs are quite chatty. Doug on the other hand can be extremely quiet even if you make the effort but I don't find that to be a negative. In fact I'm quite a big, bold (and bald) confident person so I've never seen the customer service as a negative but I've spoken to other owners who've sat in their cars waiting to MRC to come out and greet them and were disappointed when Mechs etc just walked by without asking if they needed any help etc.
As for mechanical work I found that they're no better or worse than a few other places I've been. For example on my C5 RS6 I had trim not put on right, headlight plugs left off, incorrect xenon headlight bulbs fitted and a belt pulley fitted incorrectly, so by no means perfect. However their mapping really is the best in the UK for our cars and I wouldn't go anywhere else for that.

I bought my exhaust from a forum member, who had it removed and packed up at MRC whilst getting a few things done. When I received it, the valves were seized shut, although the previous owner assured me they were working. He was of the opinion MRC mixed it up with another system they'd removed from another car. He spoke to MRC on my behalf, and I had a couple of emails with Ben. They insist they didn't mix anything up, but offered to let me have a system with working valves if they removed one. In the end, I prefer valves open anyway so didn't follow up.
That same forum member found the customer service could have been better - he couldn't get hold of them the day he was meant to be picking the car up. Very late in the day he finally heard from them that the car wouldn't be ready to the day after.
I've also heard from another forum member (can't remember who) that they did a pretty poor job of trying to fit some JHM oil cooler lines on their B7, damaging them in the process. I believe they fitted some OEM lines for him later.
So, I'm of a similar opinion to Ian. For routine maintenance/servicing and small jobs, I go to one of 2 trusted local indys. For anything tuning, mapping, carbon related; MRC. The stage 2 map is fantastic, and they do a good job with the carbon clean.
I wouldn't go near AMD for anything at all!

MRC, I cant say why (been there but disn't buy anything) except look at the dynos lol
