Resurrecting this thread in case the following is useful for anyone else with modifications.

I'm 33, 9 years NCD, SM2 postcode (greater london/surrey). Car has a few mods (see my signature), declared. 8k miles/year.

- Sky Renewal has come in at £650
- Admiral £600 (cheapest of the comparison site quotes)
- Chris Knott £570 (policy is underwritten by Highway Ins, part of LV group but brokers only)

So looks like I'm going with Chris Knott this year. Mods are covered like for like, as per Sky. Worth a call.

I also tried Adrian Flux; they didn't even bother giving a quote, said they wouldn't get close to my renewal price.

If I had no mods, direct line would insure me for £357 - but they won't cover the mods!

I get a bit sick of going around the same call chain every year - "Renewal is too much - let me check sir - will you price match - yes - end call".
Just had my renewal through again with Admiral with an increase of £160!

Phoned them and said "will you price match?" they said "Yes" and knocked £160 back off - 10min phone call and all sorted!
