Insurance

Post by Shinobi675 » Wed Mar 16, 2016 1:00 am

Hi Guys,

So just had my insurance renewal through from admiral. It's a multi car policy and has three cars.

C6 rs6 2008
996 c4s 2004
Bmw 330d 2013

£2,800!

Seems steep so going to Shop around.

Any recommendations?

Cheers

Admiral seem to do this. You get a really good multi car deal to get you in then the renewal can go silly. Very hard to compare prices as dependent on where you live, age,NCD bla.
I went via confused in the end three different companies quite a bit cheaper.

Admiral always bump up the renewal price. Have you rang them back to see what they can do? Every time I do this they knock it down by quite a lot! They say they won't give a discount unless you ask for it.

Exactly as above. I just saved 20% on quoted renewal with Admiral by calling them.

Agreed,

We have a multi policy, it has a C6 RS6, B7 RS4, A1 TDi, MG ZT CDTi and a Lotus Sunbeam, total price was around £1350 iirc but renewal is due in June and from comparing single quotes (my C6 is £620 on the multicar) Admiral are quoting well over £1500 for the same car, i tried eSure and they are coming in at £440.
So i may have to split the policy and go with these, the only downside is that owning more than one car makes sharing your NCB really difficult and there isnt many companies that offer a "multi car" policy.

Slight hi-jack but does anyone know any other compaines barring Admiral that do multi car policies?

Had exactly the same issue with Admiral for the past 2-3 years now although they always "price match" to the lowest quote but add 5%.

I get a bit sick of going around the same call chain every year - "Renewal is too much - let me check sir - will you price match - yes - end call".

I use LV which isn't a multi car policy but what they call "mirrored no claims". You have a unique policy for each car but you can use your NCD for each one. It's not advertised on their site so you need to call them directly. I'm not sure if you have to be an existing customer to qualify for it though.

Like the sound of that - LV have consistently been the best value for my RS4/5/4 and wifes Q7's for last 5 years. If I get another plaything I will certainly bear this in mind.

RS4 B8 renewal is in at £440. Last year my B7 was £380 so pretty happy with that for a car double the price.

Admiral Group have always made their own rules up

Aviva do multicar. Better cover than Admiral. But hardly great customer service to deal with

One of MK gang has multicar with Churchill. However, as Silverfox mentions above, I think they just mirror his no claims on subsequent cars

Agreed, I've found Aviva better to deal with and as competitively priced. None of the options crap that you get with Admiral either.

I'll try LV, sounds good.

I'm going to call admiral tomorrow and ask them for their best price, no pissing around with price matching. They give me their best price or I'll leave.

Sky insurance are great if you have some modifications to your car. They beat my best quote and cover mods like for like. Nice bunch of people too with no offshore call centres to deal with; I had a good chat about the B7 and previous cars with the guy who arranged the cover.

They also allow you to mirror your NCD onto another car.

Thats really good to hear, i was with Sky a few years ago but they didnt offer a NCB mirror so i had to abandon them, as they've now got it i shall certainly be ringing them come renewal June.
