Audi courtesy car???
Audi courtesy car???
Or not as it happens!!!! My son 18yrs has an A1 bought new on his 17th. It needs to have some warranty work done so naturally asked for a courtesy car as he needs the car for work daily. " Sorry he's too young for the Audi insurance!" Wasn't too young to take over 14k off him a year ago WTF
Audi courtesy car???
I'd be taking that to the service manager for starters.
It's this sort of <beep> that's made be decide I've had enough of Audi.

Re: Audi courtesy car???
Time to get real I think.
Many hire car organisations stick to 25 as a minimum age. 21 as an absolute minimum.
He should talk to his own insurers about cover for a courtesy/loan car.
If there's a surcharge for that ask Audi for a contribution.
My insurance would cover this, but then I'm not 17 or 18!

Re: Audi courtesy car???
This isn't a hire car. Your insurance would cover third party not fully comp.
Re: Audi courtesy car???
His insurance is with telematic box only.
Re: Audi courtesy car???
In that case why on earth did he think he'd be let loose in an unmonitored courtesy car?
Still worth talking to insurers.

Re: Audi courtesy car???
It wasn't the fact he had to have the box it just makes the policy much cheaper than others without it with £970. Without £1980.

The problem is basically back a few years ago when companies offered third part cover drive any vehicle to all the 18-21yr olds they all abused this power drove daddy's car/rented silly cars and killed/seriously injured others and collected a huge bill of damged cars etc.
So for this reason all the scrotes and poor drivers have ruined it for the genuine drivers who need to get from A-B this transition was only just taking affect as i was getting into driving (26 now) i had a "drive any car" when i was 19 but after this the age was moved up to 21... then to 25, and now insurance is astronomical in cost.
I paid £1100 back in 2008 for my first car a 1996 Honda Civic Coupe 1.6 (non v-tec) and that was the most money i ever paid, i was driving a 2.4 Accord at 19 and paying £800 insurance, i now pay £600 (renewal quotes i've had are £440) on the RS6 with 6yrs no claims
I feel sorry for all these new drivers that get butt raped by the insurance but bottom line is our driving tests/lessons are utter rubbish.
Sweden do it right, they put you in a skid pan they take you out in snowy conditions/rain/ice you have to do a lot of lessons and prove your a good driver before you can even do your test.
Its far to easy for anyone to "become a driving instructor" and "learn to drive" so this combined has resulted in thousands of new drivers that are utterly terrible on the road, most crashing within the first week of being on the road, so thats why insurance is so high, thats why most hire companies etc wont touch anyone under 25 because the risk is too great, nobody wants to pay out so cut the risk and remove the rubbish drivers, i think hire companies wont touch older people either as they are a similar risk.
Unfortunely mate i dont think you'll be able to do anything its not your sons fault and it really isnt Audi's fault either blame the system!

Unfortunately I agree with you. Statistics prove the danger of young drivers even in our family my sons cousin managed to roll her virtually new fiat 500 only 6 months old total right off.

Wow sorry to hear that, but just adds to the proof, we need a better driving learning system... it is awful i mean it doesnt affect us because we are all old and have our experience and no claims.skirs6 wrote:TomRS

Its the new guys who will suffer, having to have a black box on a tiny engined car until your 21... i'd not be able to cope if that was me now!
Track days and drive tuition are worth the weight in gold to any driver and it really does teach you how to handle a car in bad situations, thats whats wrong with our system.. no one tells you what to do when it all goes wrong.
If people knew how to control a car in a skid/spin it'd help so much, like watching people slam the brakes on driving through water, in snow skidding sideways and not moving the wheel to correct it just makes me despair!
