I can't understand why anybody does this. Sure it sounds good, but it also sucks in all the trapped hot engine air from the bay, causing a degradation in power, particular prevalent in forced induction cars.

Em false!!!! It sits in a heat shield and the ducting from the original intake feeds the filters!!

Are they in a 360 degree sealed box? If not then you will still get soak regardless of a shield. A CAI will help marginally, but you're still drawing very hot air from the bay.

Whatever. You posted on a public forum where people post opinions. If you're too immature to accept the opinions you don't want to hear, you should have kept quiet.

The problem of open cone filters drawing heat soak goes back for decades. Why do you think people stopped doing it in the early noughties and instead bought replacement panels for the OEM. As I said CAI's will help but in reality nothing can improve the degradation you will get from that heat soak.

Anyway, it's no skin off my nose, I'm not the one who's wasted hundreds of pounds buying something that will make my car perform worse.

Good luck.

That's a bit harsh! The sound alone from these out weighs any minimal power decrease you are so bothered about! I was our earlier for an hour long thrash and to be honest seemed more responsive not less. With 560 BHP on tap I wasn't really after the power gains but hearing the turbo sounds IMO amazing.

Some people can't help but rain on others parade! Good luck

Very strong comments with no data to back it up. I agree everyone should have an opinion but it means very little without evidence to back it up. I will also be wasting my money on some :thumb:

Heat soak may well be an issue sitting in traffic but makes no difference. On the road over 15-20mph there is more than enough airflow going through the engine bay, with the additional heat shield and cold air feed I cant see it being an issue. anything has to be an improvement over the standard restricted set up.

if I get time I will do pre and post AIT when I fit mine. Not that hard to do, and if we have wasted our money who cares, I certainly don't

its all part of the fun. Good to see someone not just following the crowd for once

Paul, once I had finished my run oil temp was sitting quite high and I popped the bonnet. Now the OEM filter housing is gone you can feel the air flow alone from the massive cooling fans. This is directed straight onto the cones so I even doubt in traffic or slow moving situations there would be a problem. Any way all good and I'm more than happy after a 5 week wait from the states!

For those interested. http://roc-euro.com/shop-by-vehicle/aud ... ntake.html. It's shown as RS7 as they don't sell the RS6 in the states but fitted like a glove
