Decision made- PE ordered

Post by MrBadger » Sun Feb 28, 2016 10:39 am

All

Thanks for the input. I placed the order yesterday with Stirling Audi. Nice chap Abie Torrance matched carwows best price. Spec is:

Sepang with black gloss and black wheels
Standard black interior with standard blue thread carbon (still not sure what that is going to look like).
Sunroof
Dynamic pack
Convenience pack
Advanced key with boot thingy
Assistance pack
Rear side airbags
and a last minute addition of audi connect.

Build week 15 so May wish delivery he will check on Monday.

I thought the tyre/wheel insurance sounded pretty good at 449 (given I ripped two tyres off the SQ5 last year)
And am being tempted by a dings and scuffs insurance at 399.
He is pushing Guard X any views?- I have had supaguard before and never understood the benefit.

Provisional trade in on RS4 p**h poor as always but I haven't sold a car privately for about 25 years.

Very excited though still a bit worried the cost will limit its use.

Looks absolutely epic!

Good to see local dealers matching CarWow price. Glasgow Audi could only offer me 8% discount so I ended up buying with a 15% discount from Crawley Audi... still, I'll enjoy the drive home next weekend :thumb:

Not heard of Guard X - the missus once got Supaguard on her car and it made no discernible difference after about 2 weeks... an utter waste of cash. Probably better off taking your car to a local detailer and getting Gtechniq or similar applied which seems to get much better reviews. I've asked Crawley just to give the car a non contact wash and will hand my car over to Defined Details up here for them to do the paint protection properly (and also probably not much more than the dealership!).

How long does the wheel / tyre insurance last?

Congrats on the order :nogarors4:

I had a protracted battle recently with Land Rover to refund a wheel/tyre insurance policy, sold by the dealer. After the underwriter for the policy stipulated that a cracked alloy wheel was not covered!

Personally, I will never subsribe to these policies again. As they're just not worth the paper they are written on.

Nice spec car though

Well done, it's a great car!!

I didn't bother with any of the gap / protection services offered by the dealer.
The gap only cover you for return to invoice for 3 years. If your contract is for longer then it will only cover your finance gap until the end of term. And it clearly states it is not valid if you modify the car. There are better deals to be had that will cover you for longer and let you defer the first year if your insurance policy alreayd covers return to invoice for the 1st year as many do.

The tyre one I didn't bother with because it wouldn't let me pick the brand of tyre and the last thing I want is another set of P-zeros / Contis (luckily I got Dunlops but will not be buying any of these again, I'd rather pay out and get some decent tyres).
And I have a proper detail booked with Gtechniq rather than some unknown person applying some guard-x or whathever it is the were offering.

If you don't like the blue carbon I'll swap you for my normal carbon. I know it's not as lovely and blue as I expected, like that fantastic MSO P1, but I'd still take it over the standard trim.

Good choice Mr. B,

Get your car in the classifieds, one owner from new has to be worth more to someone on here rather than getting tucked up on trade-in.

Audi wheel insurance does not include diamond cut alloys! The rim of the 21s are diamond cut! Please double check this as it may well end up defunk

Cheer Guys

I had a chum who knew a bloke ex Edinburgh Audi now at Audi UK. He recommended Abie at Stirling despite the fact I live in Edi and work in Glasgow and they are all in the Lookers group. I liked him and in reality although I knew a bit more as a car bore and through lurking on the Forum he was pretty good.

On the insurance stuff I have never bought any extra before. But a chum of mine did OK on his BMW X5 wheel and tyre stuff. The way it was explained to me was that over 3 years you get up to 10 alloy refurbs including diamond cut. Given the other half parks by touch I thought this was a good deal. On bent wheels the boy at Stirling did say the limit is £125 a claim and then sue the Council. Given Edinburgh roads are as I imagine Beruit's may be it seemed not a bad idea. Tyres are covered as long as tread in 2 ml minimum.

Mike F I hope I went for the PE wheels black gloss but the description on the order form is not clear. I will check. Can you spec the tyres when new?

Thanks Zeebuilder re the diamond cut point. No use if not covered. I hadn't kerbed a wheel for 8 years until we had a scan and it showed 2-I dropped Mrs B at work and ripped a long one. I did not sleep for 2 weeks.

datonamart- I feel bad -RS4 turns 10 on Tuesday. I have not told her the news and a wash today makes me feel like a cheat.
MOT and service next week and I may post on the RS4 forum to see what folks think. In my dreams I would like to mothball and give to my son and daughter in 16 years time but no space.

No, the tyre from factory is pot (un)luck. As has been moaned about on here before, you can pick the colour of the stitching on the seat but you can't pick the tyre. Not much choice between them anyway, Pirelli P-Zeros, Conti Sport something or the other and Dunlop Sportmaxx GT. Out of that lot I'd have chosen the Dunlops and luckily that is what I got.

Its funny how you can't choose your tyres. I have always had P Zeros on my RS4 and liked them as an all year all (Scottish) weather choice.I know they are not popular here. In reality I have not tried many other despite lots of cars.

Funny I was in Stirling Audi today looking for a car for my sister. No RS6s right enough. However I was at Glasgow Audi yesterday and 3 were on site.
One was due to go out on new plate and another 2 in showroom.1 was Sepang at £110,500 and the other black at 90 odd grand. The black one has blue carbon interior if you want a look. Its really subtle tbh.I thought it would be a bit loud but definitely not.
Drgav is right about gardex.Dont pay money for that and get a decent detail.Like Drgav said Gordon at defined details in Cambuslang is a legend. There must be good guys through in Auld Reekie too.
Have to say the Black RS6 in showroom looked incredible but why can Glasgow Audi(Lookers) not do the same as Stirling(Lookers).

Hi Mr B,

Mine is a Sepang blue (standard 560PS) with standard carbon trim, 21" gloss black alloys, Black Pack, Panoramic roof, Assistance pack, HUD, Advanced Parking Pack, Advanced Key + boot, Audi connect, heated front/rear seats, rear side airbags, speed limit display, heated wheel, black seats with rock grey honeycomb stitching, tow bar and privacy glass. I toyed with sports exhaust and by the time I came to add it the car was already built... I can't say I'll lose sleep over it. Can't bloody wait to pick it up on Saturday :biggrin3: :nogarors4:
