Tires
Tires
Hi,
I guess I'll be needing 4 new tires on the 3rd April
I'm sure I read somewhere on Audi sport about a guy called John in bristol who was doing S3 tires (which look the sama as S4 tires to me) for the amazing price of £60-70.
The sizes are 225 45 ZR17 for an Audi S4.
Anyone know anywhere good for tires or John's number? I'd want something like a Michelin pilot or similar.
Cheers

Re: Tires
Dan - I recently bought a new tyre and I found Micheldever to be the cheapest out of the few companies I tried, but it was approx £122 fitted (18" tyre)

Re: Tires
Would you Adam 'n Eve it?
I've still got Pirellis on the rear, probably another 5k left in them, so I thought that after CC I wold replace them with Toyos
No, this morning there is a nail through the sidewall of one
So I am looking as well Dan. Cheapest I have come up with so far is £107 (£115 fitted). Possibly a discount on multiples though.

Re: Tires
Best now is £110 fitted (locally).
Mytyres are having supply problems on Toyo's and are on a 1-2 week leadtime
I've had a thought about the trackday though. Should I just
swap my duff tyre (nail) for the spare and then change them all afterwards, because I don't really want to knacker new ones on the track?
The only downside is that my spare is still brand new, never been touched. I think that when I come to sell the car, it looks better to have a brand new shiny spare in the boot Or am I talking bollox?

I understand that MyTyres have had some issues with getting supplies from Toyo due to the way they have been sourcing their stock.

Re: Tires
I though with Quattro you had to have 4 evenly worn tyres anyway?

My front tyre wear twice as quickly as the rears.

I have a similar problem to you Paul. One of the 18" rears has a very small chunk out of the sidewall. I cannot risk the car failing scruitineering and I cannot get a replacement tyre (its a Goodyear DS02) and so I'm going to use the 17" Avus Bridgestones for the track day. When its time to replace them I'm going for the Toyos - they are cheaper than the other recommneded brands and apparently perform well.
Re: Tires

Sure, but I'd be tempted to swap them front to back to get more even wear.
I'm sure I read something somewhere about torsen diffs and the fact that if you have to different sized (i.e worn) tires on the same axel then the diff has problems and can be damaged, something to do with differing amounts of torque to each wheel (clearly the bigger tire needs more torque to turn it)
Not sure how the effect manifests itself but thought I should mention it.
Anyone else?...
