Wow lot of "I" in that paragraph lol

your quote from another post below, don't worry you are not the only one

Paul, i'd not criticise anyone for being shrewd & saving money & i'd in every area of purchasing avoid paying over the odds, however sticking a cheap generic remap on an £80k car is far from being shrewd. If you know someone who'll do you a custom Stage 2 tune on your C7 RS6 for £300 then i'd imagine many will want to know about it, however in this arena i'm afraid in the norm cost = quality, assurance, reputation & warranty so i'd be spending my money with the company that offers all of this, pretty much regardless of cost. Banging some low quality generic code onto a C7 RS6 is not a very smart move, however although you'll not have got a great product i doubt it would cause any lasting damage to the car.

As regards the remap on your GT-R, had it not already been mapped during earlier upgrades & as such you just received a revised file for the hybrid turbos so you're overall mapping costs would have been higher? Do you use Cobb or Ecutek?

As above, saving money is of course a good thing, but i'd be very careful where you apply that logic & firing a generic £300 map on a car as complex as the C7 RS6 would in my opinion not be a wise move given the cars complexities & variances. The GT-T in comparison (ECU wise) is nowhere near as complex & doesn't have the same variances.

I will be doing my own remap (well the guy who does my files will). I have been doing this for around 10 years on my own cars and friends etc (don't make money out of it as I don't need to) saved me a fortune considering I change my cars every 5 mins lol and had loads of fun into the bargain.

fingers crossed I will get it done tomorrow, hurt my back on Thursday and somehow managed to get man flu into the bargain. been a <beep> few days
I do understand & yes i did say that, but i clearly missed in your posts that you were using someone you'd known for many years & trusted. Had i known that then my take would have been different. I read it that you were getting a generic £300 remap on an £80k car & that in any car would at best be risky & at worst be suicide & not a path I & i imagine many would want to follow. My first paragraph you quoted implies the same (i think). If you're using a tried & trusted route that you know well then you're right that it's irrelevant how much it costs & if i was in the same position & knew of such a person i'd likely have gone that route but i opted for commercially tried & tested (known & trusted tuners for the marques concerned).

I'm certainly very interested to here of your results.

Cool no worries,

I will deffo let you know how I get on, and I guess you have worked out form my posts I don't defend any car or tuner if its rubbish that's what I will say, on saying that I have used this guy for years and trust him 100%.

we had a few teething problems in the early years. He would not give me what I wanted for fear of failure and rightly so. now he knows me and without being totally stupid I get whatever I want.

I could learn to write my own files (I have looked at thousands and played with the odd one or two  ) but just don't see the point I have a guy who does that for me.

1st file will be a basic generic file (how they all start) once I get some logging done we can up the anti a bit and see how it goes. maybe get a bit of left foot braking in there as well

Ok the deed is done.

I like 8)

deffo way faster than stock, huge smooth power, only issue I see now is lack of traction, spins the wheels when ever it likes.

my car is 100% stock and the exhaust deffo strangles the power, I can hear it making that jet engine type noise (hard to explain but you know what I mean) as the exhaust gasses are forced out the pipe. Need a bigger pipe that's for sure

Only stage 1 nothing crazy until I do some logging to see what's happening then turn up the wick. First impressions are very good. Very strong engine and the drop in power over 6k revs has gone.

As you can see it pulls a good chunk of power when flashing over 26 amps.

Nice work Paul,

I find when traction is left on, it's too intrusive, I can't get any power down in the first three gears without it kicking in and the back end kicking out. It's been like that for 3 months. The roads were a little drier on Sunday and I braved ESP fully off and booted it off a roundabout in 2nd, 100% traction, no signs of spin. First was still all over the place mind but I certainly noticed a difference with it off. Give it a bash.

As for the exhaust, 100% agree, I couldn't believe the difference it makes when it was changed over to the Milltek, there are big gains to be had

Time to order up your downpipes Paul, Stage 2 really is something else :thumb:

not tried much yet, need to do some logging tomorrow. Might have a play the TC and see.

Yeah front pipes and exhaust will be purchased tomorrow. I am going with the brondex front pipes. Seem real popular on other marques.

Might struggle with the ramp though. I reckon my RS will not be able to squeeze between the pillars. only 2.5 ton ramp never thought to measure it. might have to sell even before I fit it not good lol.

Yeah quite a bit, the C6 also pulled more than expected when I did it. it was around 20amps. never cars have so many things you cant turn off the draw gets higher and higher.
