New buyer advice

Without knowing the answer myself i thought someone on here will be able to point me in the right direction
Firstly I appreciate any assistance in your knowledge
Im looking to buy an c6 rs6 avant and been liaising with an independent dealer on a two owner car with 80k at 23000 now this seems to be starter money but a trader friend says they are now in main dealer auctions at late teens and very early 20s its a mind field as i just want a clean car without getting burned and been a good few years working towards this choice so want a happy ending and advice or thoughts very welcome

However if you are the cautious type
Id suggest

Buy one from a trusted member here with "forum history"
Get it checked out by a stealer or ideally a trusted indy like MRC or Unit 20 before you buy
Get one with the audi offical (mondial) warranty on it or put it on it as part of the deal

And im afraid to say. All that will not be found for late teens at the auctions. Dont be fooled by cheap abused copies

Cheers pal he rang me from a big auction last week and a 10 plate was 24k i felt this was far too cheap but then thought are dealers still adding thousands on them id prefer to buy from here as im sure buying from someone who knows what their selling is very beneficial and yes rang for a quote to extend warranty today to so i can budget that

It's sometimes a lottery tbh mate. You can do all of the checks you like, ppi checks and the thing could blow up the following week. Buying from a dealer at least you may get some kind of warranty with it and private, you can usually tell when you look closely if it's the kind of car that's been a cherished example or if it's been maintained on a shoe string. For me and cars of this kind, I'd be looking for silly things like odd tyres and what kind of tyres are on. Budget tyres are a turn off for me. How do the brakes look, are all of the fluid levels good, when was the brake fluid done last...

Although the above may sound silly but you can run your car for 10 years on the factory brake fluid. Me personally, I just wouldn't. Odd tyres can also suggest the person might literally spend the minimum keeping the car maintained etc...

This is no disrespect to anyone here either but don't always be fooled by the forum car either. Is my RS4 and my R8 wrapped in cotton wool? The hell they are and when I'm in the mood for it, I rag the arse off them. I was doing doughnuts in my factory the other week in my R8 but do I maintain them well, absolutely...

In a nut shell, not that it really helps but have a good look at the car and try to get a feel for the seller if private and just use your best judgement without getting all excited and jumping in the driver seat that I have hipocritically done in the past on many occasion.

Agreed, as i said in your other thread... there's things to look for but you just play a lottery, my black RS was a dog yet it looked ace.
The red one im in now didnt look like much, wasnt advertised great etc etc and its a absoutle diamond find! its had all radiators and things replaced that must have cost thousands but it means its good for me.

I also drive my cars hard, but i maintain them... there wont be a week that goes by where i wont find something to tinker with, clean, replace...
The RS since i've had since november has had new discs all round, new filters, its oil changed about 5 times and new spark plugs plus suspension arms/bushes and a general good clean around etc.

im not shy of ragging it about but i do care for it! id rather a well maintaned car thats been used properly than a unused example.
