Well actually I would always turn it off every time I got in the car. I don't like the stupid start/stop functioning. I've got it in my head that it will kill the starter motor prematurely and most of the time I find it a pain in the ass when you need to pull out from a junction pretty sharpish and you've got to wait that split sec for it to restart.

I agree 100% with Eddie. Few times I've left wife and kids in car whilst I've nipped somewhere and left it running.

Tunnel tip - book as a high vehicle., >1.85m. Wider lanes and they are used to people doing it, so no problem.

footy-no can do on the Tunnel-go flexiplus and you can't get onto highbay using Flexiplus, although they tell me they are looking at this,as most super cars are too wide for the normal carriage-you can just get the C7 in.

Zee you can still lock it!! The person left in the car just needs to hit the lock button on the door panel. My missus did this all the time.
Just reading through the forum before i bring myself to start work and spotted this thread.

I have a FL car with standard key and I always pop out on a cold morning to start the car and leave it running, just did it this morning. All that happens is the key warning symbol shows up on the dash when you leave the car. As for locking it while its running if I need to i just use the key to lock manually in the drivers door.

Great overview of the car too. similar spec to mine and I have loved all of the 11000 miles I've done in it, perfect all round car for me. It will be a hard one to replace when the time comes. Unless the next gen RS6 moves the game on a considerable amount. I'm holding out on a remap for a year or so, my thinking is when I do take the plunge the extra power will be like owning the car from new again. A whole new meaning to the word fast.

Tunnel - ask for highbay; explain you cannot make the ramps, or tell them you get bad anxiety and claustrophobia.

Ferry - ask to be loaded on the truck deck, you get on and off much quicker, and there is no chance of being parked next to a family discovery with a million careless kids in it. Excuse here is you don't make the ramps. Be real nice.

Usually ask in advance i.e. the loader, not when you get to said mode of transport. Never ever let me down.
Zero Drama

I've done it at 4 times now, on flexiplus, without any issues, including with "super car"...all booked online and no issues when i got there

Could you be a gem and tell me how, cos they told me I can't get from Flexiplus lounge to the highbay lanes,or do just not go to the lounge,

Thanks Bamf--any more ideas on the defrosting--mine is keyless and I defo cannot start and leave it,really annoying especially as it's now starting to get cold-is there some sort of secret to this-suppose I could try and leave the keys in the car after disabling the auto locking but I don't like the sound of that, you don't know who is hiding in the bushes-also the heating is not actually that great.

That might be the issue - I never go to the lounge. I usually have about 3mins spare...

I do seem to remember now you mention it that high sided vehicles don't get lounge access and there's a height restriction bar on the way in. Never been an issue for me, as I said, and I'd rather have the alloys in one piece than get a coffee!
