Having had the unit repaired , it will not accept any codes, [even spent a day at the dealers,], it will take the steering angle sensor codeing and then no further

IIRC there is a security code / login you need to enter first otherwise the coding is rejected. Did you do this?

not sure the tech did this , but they can set the steering angle , then as they proceed it wont allow the coding, im beginning to think this is a wiring issue??

Just as a matter of interest, where did you get it repaired? I am having mine looked at this week by BBA-reman.
Don't know yet whether it is repairable. I can't say I'm looking forward to spending £1600 on a new unit...

I would suggest with BBA reman that they will tell you that yours will be repairable, and they don't have any exchange units.
Once yours is there, it will be mysteriously irreparable yet they will mysteriously have a good unit in stock.
Call me sceptical....

Where did this ABS unit come from? If it's from another car, maybe it's not accepting the RS6 login. You could try the other login codes for the other cars that use the Bosch 5.7 ABS system. There aren't that many to try.

A few mechanics I know have suggested similar practices may have occurred - but that's only peoples subjective opinion on the matter

I sent it to a reputable ecu repairer used by my local garage whom i trust , it was sent with the symtoms [dash light description], and they do a fix as per the problem , they do nothing with the coding , so ,,
i am going to try another used unit which was reported with no faults , and we will see , i have just read on a us site that a faulty steering angle sensor can stop the abs unit from being coded.
failing that is time to check the loom i think,

I wish I had known about this outfit....unit not repairable, exchange unit will take a week at least and not much less than new from Audi...took 8 working days to get there.
