RNSe sat nav + European tour = ???

Post by lardy » Mon Jan 11, 2016 11:38 pm

So I have the original head unit in my 2007 B7 RS4 with the standard factory European disk. I'm going snow hunting in the alps next month and want to do most of France on D routes, my question is if I'm to enter Dijon and deselect toll roads/motorways how accurate is it likely to be?
we are in no rush to get to Dijon so no real pressure to get it perfect but I'm leading a 3 car group and don't want a red face for getting it wrong!

Am I better using an iPhone app for this?

Any experience using the Euro disk?

Thank you for your help

I've used it across Europe and it's pretty good, I wanted to do a particular route to the Black Forest so set waypoints which worked well. The downside is some of the new roads aren't listed.I tend to have waze running on my phone too when travelling now as
Glacier White 2017 S3 Saloon with all the Tech.
Gone but not forgotten - B7 RS4 Saloon Black - H&R spacers, Tints, Gun Metal Alloys, MRC Stage 2, Pre Cats, Milltek Non Res, K/W Springs, MRC Full Carbon clean - 431ps
previous - B6 A4 1.8T S-Line 215PS

Thanks toyneg, i do use Waze at home and find it excellent, its saved me points on more than one occasion! Its not legal en France though, that wont stop me though :smile_smoking: I'll keep that as a back up.

Thanks

I toured Europe last summer and found the nav worked better than in the UK, it never put a foot wrong in medieval Strasbourg, Leuven or any of Switzerland. Found the Hotel Pistenklause at the 'ring no problem too!

I've used the EU map DVD in France every year since 2006 and it's always been spot on.

The most recent DVD available is still the 2015 one (which has map data frozen in August 2014).

The part number has been released for the 2016 DVD (suffix CG) but it doesn't seem to be available anywhere yet - normally it would have been on eBay in the preceeding December.

As above. I drove to the French Alps last year and was impressed with the NAV considering its getting on a bit now. traffic warnings were helpful, although still got stuck in a 6Hr traffic Jam, Running on 0 miles for a good 45 mins.

I Agree thought it worked better in Europe than the UK. Damm Audi not accepting 7 digit postcodes :audibash:

With annual map update DVDs still available from Audi the road data can be kept up-to-date, and that's what matters most.
