Struggling for an alternative

Post by smudge » Wed Jan 06, 2016 5:02 pm

So my RS4 turned three last month and soon it will be time (in theory) for me to change. But to what?

M3/4 - NOPE. Dull as anything as a car, and from what I've read there are way too many issues out there.
RS6 - living in Central London I just think this is too big
RS3 - Good size for London, but my sperm count is high and subsequently I need somewhere to stick the kids during the weekend.
C63? - Hmmm possibly. I haven't driven one yet, but they don't exactly get my jiuces flowing.

I'm at the stage where I think I might just enjoy the RS4 for longer than I had planned and spend some money on her......

Have I missed anything half decent as an option?
It's all torque talk.

I must admit the new C63 coupe does look appealing or even the estate, or as a curve ball what about one of the original CLK black series cars.....

Or a 991?
Volvo XC90
C7 - RS6
C6 - RS6
B5 - RS4

The RS3 is fairly sizeable inside. Only the boot size lets its down compared to a B8.

I've got a c63s estate and it really is worth a test drive.
The sound of downshifts (race mode) in a tunnel are amazing. Also very refined as a daily driver.

Ok, three kids... 991.

I won't be the popular Dad I love to be. As much as I would love a 991 (and it has crossed my mind)

I know, I have looked inside, but 17, 15 & 6 aren't small ages. Add in a car seat for the 6yr old & most likely another adult...... Even the RS4 can't handle that.

:bash:

Try the AMG's out. I drive an E63 on track and it handled very well for a big car and had loads of traction (it was dry though). The C63's were smaller that the RS4's when I looked, but that was before the new/facelift one. Depends what else you need from the car, other than space. As Ross said really though, possibly something in the fast SUV segment.

Can't help but think that these all look like taxi's. Plus the new e class is due imminently. Either way, I've always found the e class about as appealing as genital herpes.....

I like the C63S estate but god help you when it rains and better ask your tyre dealer to see if they do loyalty cards

If you like the RS4 so much, then how about swapping to a younger version, lower miles, different colour, different spec.....?
