RE: apr tuning??
I've only ever used AmD http://www.amdtechnik.com/ so can't comment directly on APR, but the figures stack up. I assume you've bought an RS6+, as a 62bhp gain from just the re-map is a little OTT for a standard RS6 (450bhp base), although with a sports zorst, it would be about right.
My 1st mods to my RS6 were re-map (engine & gearbox) & a Milltek zorst & the figures were 515BHP & 469lbsft. Now had the Sportec performance upgrade & the car is now closer to 550BHP & 500lbsft.

RE: apr tuning??
nope. its a standard rs6..... apr are very reputable, anfor the 2k you get switchable programs via your cruise control stalk etc... the four pipr exhaust is 1250 extra for more horses and noise again...
RE: apr tuning??
have just spoke to them and the figures are as follows.
95 ron 512 bhp and 529lb ft
98 ron 520 bhp and 539lb ft.
its just an ecu and gearbox upgrade...thats all without adding exhausts etc..

Re: RE: apr tuning??
I know of APR & have heard good things about them. They do the same style switchable via CC re-map for TT's which is what i owned when i 1st heard about them. I'm sure a 62BHP gain is just about possible from just a re-map, but its about 10-15BHP over what other tuners quote. Most make claims of 500BHP with just a re-map (MTM & AmD).jonathonturner wrote:nope. its a standard rs6..... apr are very reputable, anfor the 2k you get switchable programs via your cruise control stalk etc... the four pipr exhaust is 1250 extra for more horses and noise again...

RE: Re: RE: apr tuning??
its the torque figures im more concerned about.. are they right , as they seem significantly higher than other tuners for a lot less money?
Re: RE: Re: RE: apr tuning??
That's exactly what i just thought. They seem very very optimistic in my opinion.jonathonturner wrote:its the torque figures im more concerned about.. are they right , as they seem significantly higher than other tuners for a lot less money?
If both are totally achievable then go for it.
As per my earlier post, i got 469lbsft after my AmD re-map & a Milltek zorst (although it was cat-back) & even with the Sportec work (Mucho money & new parts), mine is still only at about 504lbsft.
I would defo question the torque figures, but even if they are not achieved, you'll still notice huge gains

RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: apr tuning??
Isn't the car electronically limited out of the factory to 413 lb/ft to protect the gearbox?
Does this mean that tuning the car will have serious implications on the longevity of the engine and transmission, or is the RS6 generally quite robust to tuning?
PS - I take it that tuning will invalidate the Audi warranty?
Thanks

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: apr tuning??
Thats why the re-map for the RS6 also includes new mapping for the gearbox ecu, to allow for slicker changes & to handle the higher torque figures.Wacko wrote:Isn't the car electronically limited out of the factory to 413 lb/ft to protect the gearbox?

Mine is currently running at just over 500lbsft & no problems so far.
Any modifications would technically invalidate the relevant warranty aspects, however with only a re-map, who'd know & no dealer in the world is able to dismantle an ECU. Most re-maps are carried out onto Audi ECU's, so looking at it would not give anything away.

I have an RS6+ that I took to QSTuning in Haywards Heath. We put it on their 4wd rolling road and it performed almost exactly to spec. I had the MTM chip upgrade only and when the car was rerun it produced 505BHP and 755Nm of torque. The maximum that you can go to before the gearbox goes bang is 800Nm. At the end of the day BHP is for the lads at the pub, torque is for actual driving. The price for this upgrade was £2,000 + VAT and this did include the rolling road and some very nice coffee.
The MTM upgrade gives a massive amount of torque over a very wide range. With the gearbox in Sport mode, the acceleration in any gear is prolific with significant torque all the way up to 6500rpm. Having had the car tested on a rolling road before and after and knowing that MTM always get their facts right, the car feels as it should. The improvement was well worth the expense.
