Odd you should be discussing alternatives (or the lack of!) - I've decided to stick with Audi and my current rs4 until the b9 rs4 is out. Then it think it's a no brainer to get that - and bugger the warranty get it mapped to 575-600hp.
The ONLY thing I'd change about my current rs4 is I wish it had more power. Everything else is immense. The b9 promises easy power gains thanks to being boosted - so for me, it's looking really likely I'll be here for a while yet
