another pic from today , not much more done yet as the machining work is getting planned and sorted , i see from the pic there are 2 pulleys in the bracket , but the original one which is down to the left in the pic has been remove as i suppose its not needed , you can see the bolt hole where the original idler was fitted ,but with the new routing of belts is not required for the TTS set up

I think they moved the idler pulley to take the load off that bolt lug where yours broke away, I will ask Richard at TTS tomorrow, why they did not use that point, just wondered if they had same thing happened, would be interesting to know

My belt came off twice due to the tensioner being faulty, all's been ok since the replacement, tension not being applied so belt starts slipping then it burns up the belt and bang.

I looked the part number up for the belt fitted to mine and it fits a 5 litre Merc desiel truck, so should be more than capable to do the job

Cheers

Would like to see the layout before you put the bumper on, I looked over the net but could only find with the bumper on so could not see the belt layout

r1rs4 , i,ll keep trying to get pics sent out to FB , but i,m not with it at the moment as i,m at work , but the plan will hopefully work out , if not we have no back up plans rather than removal of the kit and back to std :boohoo:

There was no further mods done to the design other than the idler pulley having sides on it to keep the belt aligned better which what mine had , i think the main reason was the bolt came loose which was the start of the proceedings , but a redesign is underway

thanks for the info , may be a good idea to fit this if he will sell it to me :-)
i know the belt is wider but can you tell me the legnth , its always on the belt in mm ,for example , mineis 1583mm long , maybe this set up will work fine on mine with a 6 rib as long as the belt is easy to get , which it should be ,
cheers

well another update with some progress ,
Attachments
spacer.jpg
repair done to the front of the block , hole drilled another 10mm and rethreaded to increase support due to the loss of threads ,and 9mm spacer made to bring back to the original dimensions
pulley.jpg
original pulley with bearing damage due to the shock load
pulleys.jpg
the new pulley set up which is fitted to the TTS kits , which richard kindly sold to me which will be a big improvement over the original , which lasted 15 000 miles roughly , this was not plannned as we had another plan for a double bearing in a custom hub, but this set up will be a direct bolt on so much easier without all the custom machine work needed

ITS ALIVE ... after a lot of shenaigans the RS4 is back to itself again, the damage to the front of the block was fixed by milling the surface down in correct alignment , then the hole drilled deeper to allow more threads to be cut, a custom spacer machined to the correct size to get everything back to original dimensions , then the TTS idler pulley kit was fitted and a 32
IMG_3883.JPG
1715mm Gates microgrip belt fitted
mm longer belt sourced due to the different set up , As the TTS pulleys and brackets are wider, some die grinder work was used on the big cooling fan cowl as it contaced it when the front was offered up , no damage done really just removal of one support of the many on it and some plastic removal around where the fan motor bolted on , i could have got the modified fan cowl TTS uses but never realised until later that was the reason they did that , by then it was christmas looming and no time really but there are no clearance issues now , and its running fine again, done around 100 miles ,some of which was booting through the lower gears right to the limiter to see how eveything stands up ,
So far so good :blackrs4:
