You sold every R8 you owned for the same price or more than you paid for it??

That's quite an achievement & I'd bet you're possibly the only ex R8 owner who could claim that (excluding the GT's & queue jumpers).

Almost. Exige S. Didn't have all the options though. Could have had more expensive paint and it didn't have the race pack.

Also, I PXed it instead of selling privately.

I did just about everything wrong that I could possibly have done wrong. :drink:
Ouch. That the last of the 'S2' Exiges (not the V6)? I seem to recall the later Exige S2 four pot superchargeds were damn pricey new!

No, it was an S3 V6, bought brand new in November 2014 for £59k. PXed two weeks ago for £40k.

Monster car though! Was looking at them the other day, I'm on SELOC as I know Thorburn, one of the mods on there, I'm surprised to see them changing hands for under 40k already

I paid £40k for my S2 exige in 2008

Last year looked at chopping in for a V6 and I was offered high £20s - not bad really

Although the S3 is an awesome car, it is way over priced new hence the big drops in residuals.
Currently :
Porsche 992S
Porsche Cayenne GTS
Porsche GT4 RS
Lotus Exige V6 ( tuned to c430bhp)
Seat Ibiza excellence Lux!
1987 Porsche 928S4
1967 Jaaag Mk2 3.4

Ex
2017 AMG E class wagon
2012 Audi RS4 (B8)
2012 Porsche Boxster S (981)

There are a couple for sale presently in the 39-43k bracket. Hell of a fast car for the money

Yes, it was very much a heart-driven purchase. I was expecting serious depreciation but I wasn't expecting it to be quite this serious.

It's an amazing car. :) I heard so much about steering feel and feedback before I bought it; I was still genuinely taken aback by the level of information the car gives you through the wheel. It's quite telling that the savage acceleration isn't the most impressive thing about the car. :)

Sorry for sending this so far OT. :knob:

I made £5k on 1
B/e on 3
Lost a bit on the others but offset by £5k

For example, 2.5yrs ago I bought a 60 V10 Spyder 35k from Bath Audi for £65k ... 2.5yrs later that's the same asking price ....

I probably ran x7 B7's without loosing a penny either.

That must take some doing, more so on the B7's as they all lost a fair bit, however mine was one of my lesser depreciating cars.

no the B7's have been rock solid for years....cant believe they are still £20k now for a good one !

I bought a Daytona B7 Cabbie back in 2011 for £30k with Ceramics in the snow. Sold the Ceramics to a forum member for his steels for £3k then a trader bought it off me unseen for £27k and sent a low loader to collect it after enjoying it in the sun 4 up round the 'Ring roof down !

Swings and roundabouts but the B7's and the R8's have been rock solid residuals wise after the first 50% / 3 yrs

C7's could go that way

Sorry DK, i've been proper thick :bash: .

The cars you're mentioning have all been used haven't they & many only owned for a VERY short time?

All makes sense now. Most of mine have either been brand new or demonstrators (less than 6mths old) so still very much inside their painful depreciation area. I guess if you bought a C7 RS6 at 3yrs old for say £40k & kept it less than 6mths you'd not lose that much on it. If as per the RS7 thread you buy new & fully loaded (accept it may have been an Audi UK car but the point's still valid) you're going to walk away after 2yrs with somewhat of a painful after taste & that would apply to pretty much any car (excluding certain Italian & German marques).

yes, every car will lose give or take 50% in the first 3 years ... the next 3 years are where some cars can really shine such as B7 & R8

unless its a Porsche GT product which appreciates by 50% in 3 days
