If your wife is a similar model to mine, go in with a counter offer of shoes and handbags, and you'll win every time :)

I agree about what you say about the size of the RS6. It's too wide for most car park slots, and getting in through the boot in public can be embarrassing (as I've found out)

I'm the last person anyone should take car buying advice off, or marital advice for that matter :beerchug:

The Performance Edition has the makings of an epic RS though. Defo on my list of considerations in 12mths.

Yeah that's the thing, and why I've chucked in the depo - See the RS4 is Epic, and the RS6 in normal flavour - whilst do doubt awesome; isn't enough to chase down my cash.

But the thought of 605ps AND an Overboost button in that RS6 package; well that was enough for me to simply throw in the cash. It wasn't a hard decision at all to spend some of the xmas fund!!! (joking) But happy Xmas Boff!! (CRAP!)

You'll remember that I test drove an RS4 Nogaro Ltd Edition, and the car I ended up buying - whilst absolutely beautiful, I bought off pre-spec. I want the RS6 Performance to be my spec - hence cash on the table.

Ha! it is huge, but as part of the "wife approval process" - which will be another thread I start for the laugh!, I am going to:

As w8pmc says, handbags, shoes, eternity ring. Followed by house move out of London - NOW I'll have that big drive and long roads (That's RS6 land).

I will of course be running the business back in London, SO of course as part of the WAP "Wife Approval Process" I will have to upgrade her car as well to something nippy and London sized, I dunno a Macan, or a SQ5 or alike.... OR "Darling as you love the RS4 soon much..."

Chuckle - the biggest worry actually is trying to pull off a house move and the 6 at the same time.

Impending 'wife initiated' house move is why I'm no longer buying a new R8 :(

Out of interest, did you get offered any discount on the RRP of the PE-RS6 ?

Ha - so now we have the Wife Approval Process (WAP) with Wife Initiated Process (WIP) gates. Yesterday I learnt about PLQ's (Plain Language Questions! - I cannot believe that we have a definition for a simple question now) Maybe we could structure the WAP inline with PAS1192-2.

So onto the question of money. The final Discount / Price cannot be discussed because I can't spec the car: AUK haven't issued the options list etc.

The Base is (on Finance):

4.9%
£7k Depo Contribution

So that's before doing any work, and there will be work - otherwise I'll walk away. But I've put two RS4's through these guys this year, in good faith there will be a good deal!

I was approached by my local dealer, who I've bought my last 2 new B8's through about the PE-RS6, and, at the time (this was a couple of months back), they weren't offering anything on the PE car, but would give around £10k of a normal RS6
It begs the question ; Is the PE version worth the extra initial outlay, which is around £7k more than the normal RS6, and then lack of discount, which brings the difference up to, say, £15k
For that sort of money, you could add an MRC stage one to give more power for around £1k, and then have £14k in your pocket incase anything goes wrong ?

Good luck with that Andy, let me know how you get on. FWIW, Martin replied to me (co-incidentally, immediately after I'd posted the negative comment on here about his communications) saying they wouldn't match the discounts the brokers are currently offering on the 6 (£13k).

As Graeme said earlier in this thread, no matter which way I cut the numbers on a new 6 (or even a used one), the 6 is significantly(c40%) more expensive than the 4 per month due to it's poor GFV residuals. Given it's space I'll be needing I'm getting to the point where it might just be easier to spend a bit of cash on a REALLY nice roofbox for the 4.

Yeah - that's an interesting one, when I bought the 4 I did the same thing - and will do the same checks here. Have to say that they did do the deal on the 4, tbf it was a bit more of we can only do that, then me saying can you throw in X and X, no - phone down, phone back OK deal done.

I don't think for one minute that I got the RS4 at the cheapest cash price, but the deal overall looked great. Things I could have bought cheaper like GAP and Autospank, but I'm too busy for faffing so I wanted it all done in one place so it is all resolved in one place.

Dealers do have to make money, and then there's the counter balance aka loaner cars with no hassle, etc etc

The higher you go, the higher you will fall! yeah I'm not blind to the costs of this car, as I have said in other posts it is either a rich man, or a fools car - I fall into the fool; but hey some people spend hundreds of pounds a month on a golf membership, i don't like golf - i like cars (and helicopters.... a story for another day! - and no I don't have one yet!)

We all know the dealers read these - it's where their customers bare their emotions and opinions, a salesmans paradise! I just wish there was a forum where customers bared their IT mega platform emotions!! LOL

So Martin has been good for me, there will be checks and balances, what will be will be - and I still have a car that I love, what's the worst that can happen? oh and I'm on the list!

You say that, but there's quite a few suitable for the B8. Ranging from a couple of £hundred, to several £thousand... ;)
