last month i pulled out of my road, as my car was cold i was crawling along at about 30mph with 2 passengers who could confirm this. a mile up the road i have a copper behind me, he pulls me over and tries to tell me i was doing 60mph, i was like ummm no I wasn't. he assured me I was, asked me to keep my speed down and then let me go. wtf?!

Mike there's always one !

Had something similar in Camberley yesterday, went past an unmarked police car with my sports button on, pulled up at the light and some women in the inside lane tells me this guy is ranting and raving at me so I looks over, puts the window down and this guy says "slow it down and cut the speed" or your nicked"

So didn't say anything back and thought was I f***k speeding

So as he peeled off in the four lanes of traffic towards Farnham, I nailed it to the floor ,,,, now that's what I call speeding, shot off as fast as I could heading into Frimley ,,,, :biggrin3: :blackrs4:

Hmmmmm. Wonder if they're targeting RS4's cause they are normally stolen? That's probably why he was angry with you Mike when he saw your lady and child.

I've been pulled over for the same thing to. Pulled off quickly on a roundabout, didn't exceed the speed limit at all. Saw the blues in the mirror and pulled over. Said even though I'd driven safely and within the speed limits, I'd driven off from the roundabout furiously said I could have had 3 points for it

Am I right in thinking as long as the wheels don't spin and you don't exceed the speed limit, there's nothing they can do?

It's amusing how much the RS6 goes under the radar, all they see is estate car with a slightly loud exhaust, no clue about the performance!

I think they'll get you for something whatever we do. I got pulled once so far in her, 2 days after I bought her as she had no keeper registered. But then I do drive really slow Image

True, although driving slow in an RS is very suspicious! But it's pretty likely that you're about to run out of fuel lol.

To be fair if I'd stick my head through the window and seen my wife's mug I'd be angry too.

He didn't ask my name or check my details or anything. Didn't even call my plate in. Unlikely as it is with wife and kid, I could have stolen it. He only saw the kid near the end.

It is from 1861 before the car was even invented. I think Dick Turpin may have been pulled over once for this offence but as his horses didn't hurt anyone they let him off.
That's because the offence falls under the Offences Against The Person Act 1861, which also covers assaults (although a lot of it has been repeled and replaced with other more up to date legislation), as opposed to traffic offences. The chances of you being knocked off for 'Wanton or Furious Driving' (to give the offence it's correct title) is about zero. The charging guidance is that it should only be used when no charges under the Road Taffic Act apply, or the location isn't a public place. The offence is triable ny indictment only.

The police are so inconsistent. At least nothing came of it Mike.

I'm still waiting to be pulled in the RS4, but been pulled loads of times in my previous cars. Luckily nothing serious has come of any of those stops (couple of £30 fines for german style plates and tinted front windows), but it seems so dependent on who pulls you.

Good Cop:
- I was over the limit in my old A4 S-line on a dual carriageway as an Impreza was trying it on at the lights. Got to the next lights and a unmarked cop car pulls alongside, and just gives me a look, and tells me "I saw that. You know you were going too fast, slow down, alright?" and immediately drives off... fair enough

Bad cop:
- I got pulled in my old Golf GTi, for no reason other than it was late at night (about 2am) and I was out my local area. The plod told me they pulled me because they ran my registration, and my home address was a bit far from Bromley where I was stopped. I pointed out that was kind of the whole point of cars - I don't think he liked that. He spent ages running all sorts of details and poking around the car until finally letting me go.

A great deal of the coppers attitude stems from the "personality test" they give you. If you fail, you're scrutinised more closely etc. If you're polite and humble (even if they're a cum guzzling butt muncher to you) you'll fair much better.

The number of times I've been let off far outweighs the times I've been done. Not to mention leniency on multiple 100+mph stops. I guess I must pass the personality test every time :)

Yep, bit of humble pie and appologising goes a long way.

Stopped for doing something furiously? It's only happened to me once, I was caught furiously tea-bagging a Dyson AirBlade, the lowest one on the wall in Liverpool St station. The copper said it was most disturbing as that one was the children's hand drier, I cannot believe he mentioned nothing of the fact that I was caught performing this particular act in the women's toilet.
No matter where you go, there you are.
