There was a facelift towards the end of 2014 / early 2015. Major differences as far as I know where the changes to the head and tail lights.

Did they do anything to the engine?
I know emissions are a tad lower but just come back from trip during which I averaged 27.3 mpg! And I wasn't hanging around. When I had a 2014 demo I struggled to get over 20 on similar journey.
Perhaps my computer is just optimistic, because that would require a hell of a tweak ;)

Car is late Sept 15 (presumably 16 MY as has alcantara door inserts as above).

Around town (I live in Brum) I struggle to see between 12-17 mpg. But on a run or a Sunday I'll see between 20-28mpg. I think its got a lot to do with the cylinder on demand whether you get decent mpg. If I get out onto a quiet country B road and give it full <beep> mode I'll get about 6mpg. :FIREdevil:

BMW 540i
2018 GTR
F90 M5
X3MC
RS3 Saloon
RS7 FL best car I've owned. No faith in turbo oil screen (turbos failing) or sticking oil scraper ring causing missfires.
F10 M5 LCI still no rear grip lol
S7 black Edition Too big and heavy
S3 8V FL DSG 310ps, road noise is a joke
RS3 8P Rubbish
C7 RS6 Fantastic car but missed playing
GTR R35 800bhp, too extreme, crazy fast though
911 Turbo Remapped. Hated it
F10 M5, awesome but no rear grip
RS6 V10 700BHP crazy
Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 600bhp

Fuel economy went up slightly at facelift and CO2 came down to - crucially - just below the "insane" tax band (225). I doubt you would notice the difference in fuel economy so, if you saw a wild difference between two cars, the less economical one may have been in dynamic mode for the exhaust - the exhaust noise kills the economy.

So the pre facelift cars were in a higher road tax bracket?

I think it's more to do with number fudging around wheel sizes and a change in the regulation. As tax group is meant to go up with 21s. There's no actual change to the car.

just a rider on the mpg,my C7 is pretty damn good, previous B7, B8 and now C7 ,I go regularly to France some 850 kilometres, use exactly the same amount of petrol, 2 fill ups and left with 1/2 tank when I get there, all cars the same. On the autoroutes the computer says 28- 30 mpg, sometimes more if I can be bothered to sit at the same speed, that's a job with the C7. I always have the exhaust in dynamic,I now find myself using the paddles nearly 100 % of the time and also use these to decelerate all the time. the car is now 6 months old so for a car this powerful the mpg is exceptional in my opinion, and I do drive it hard.

All lower tax bracket now - irrespective of wheel size. So something has changed.
