s4 interior light !

2000 s4 interior lights stay on when doors are shut , dash shows all doors to be shut ,anyone had this problem ?

The switch at the light itself is on the 'I' setting ?

Verify the dash warning works by opening each door one at a time even if it does most likely a faulty door switch, they could be dual function and only half the switch works? Don't know (only guessing) never removed one to look at it.

You say lights which indicates all are on, mine are individually switched, could be a mate 'avin a laugh so worth checking that they aren't all permanently switched on.

so when you put the key in and start the car, all the intererior lights still stay on?

Mine stays on until the central locking/alarm is activated. I know that if I don't activate it the light will go out after a delay, although I don't know what the delay is.
