Indicator not coming on right hand side
Indicator not coming on right hand side
Ive got a problem with my indicator stalk not coming on wen i indicate right. However it works fine wen i turn left and the hazard lights work fine as well. So i bought a new inditator stalk and am fitting it now but dont think thats the problem as i could see the clicker inside working and its a cheap aftermarket part were the plugs on the back dont fit flush load of rubbish but at least i can see if this will solve the problem but think reading up on this that its the hazard light switch in the middle of the dash i need to replace!! any feedback will be welcome many thanks
Re: Indicator not coming on right hand side
My car does the same - its something to do with water ingress into the electrics. Mine gets better when its dry. Clean the scuttle panel out

Re: Indicator not coming on right hand side
Probably the hazard switch.

Re: Indicator not coming on right hand side
Sammy if your Hazard lights are working then surely the switch is functioning as it should and the bulbs / wires after the relays are all good?
I'd guess the signal isn't getting to the relay and as you rightly tested by replacing the stalk and switch. If the hazard switch is sending the 'on' signal then the fault is likely in the wires between the stalk and relay, could be moisture. Bypass it, see if the hazard relay and indicator relay are one and same, if not try a swap out there.

Ha! That kind of logic won't get you far with the RS6.R5XVB wrote:Sammy if your Hazard lights are working then surely the switch is functioning as it should

Re: Indicator not coming on right hand side
If it's any consolation, the first thing I did was change my hazard switch and it did not cure the problem.
The indicator still works but it doesn't always light fully on the dashboard. U can hear it click.
With my car, the light in the dash to indicate direction gets brighter the longer it is left to dry out. It was back working properly when Scotland had a dry spell for a few days.
Sadly, it started raining again (as usual) and it went back to how it was before.
I checked the BCM under the passenger seat and its bone dry. I have cleaned out under the scuttle panel (right in where the bonnet hinges are) and its better - although Iv not done it properly, the problem appears marginally better.
If you manage to solve the problem 100%, let me know

Re: Indicator not coming on right hand side
Try clearing the scuttle in the centre (not just where the hinges are). There is a drain-hole in there, right underneath a box of gubbins, but I can just about get my fingers right in there to clear out any leaves etc and unblock the drain-hole.

Unbolts the expansion tank (3x 8mm bolts IIRC) and access is much easier - you dont actually remove the tank but just lift it out of the way. Give it all a really good clean out and the water drains away so much easier.
