C7 rs6 sports exhaust OEM question

Post by Gastro » Mon Sep 21, 2015 8:28 pm

Hi guys

I wondered if you can pull the pneumatic pipe on this to keep the valves open ? Similar to the b8 rs4?
If so, any instructions /pictures to guide me :)

Hi. I did it on the weekend. Disconnected the three pin electrical connector to each valve actuator and zip tied out of the way. I used insulating tape to prevent water getting into the open electrical connectors. Valves permanently open in their default position now! Didn't take many photos but read the engine self study guide before hand. Easy job if you don't mind crawling under the car

Easy peasy! I carried our the same procedure and works a treat. Car went in for a full health check and they picked up on it. Recommended they be replaced at £180 lol robbing barstewards. Remove the tape all is back to normal

Prett sure I've asked this before, but isn't this just the same as putting the exhaust in dynamic in individual setting ???, if not someone else mentioned somewhere about electrical tape seems easier to keep them constantly open.

On B8s the exhaust on manual setting only came in on MY2014. March I believe.

I leave my exhaust set to Dynamic, but i find that every time I start the car it seams to go into auto mode where the flaps close once the engine is warm. Then I either have to pull back on the gear shift to engage Dynamic for them to open or go into individual settings and switch the exhaust setting to Auto or comfort then back to Dynamic to get the flaps to stay open.

They stay open then for the whole drive until i switch off the ignition. Then its the same process the next time I jump in the car. I'm not sure if its me doing something stupid or its just how the car works. It'll be interesting to see if anyone else finds the same issue.

At the end of the day the exhaust is load when it needs to be under spirited driving. Its just odd how it drops back to auto mode even though its set to dynamic.
