Wow, I advertised my car for sale on this web site. I thought being a site deidcated to this car, responce would be good, indeed too good.
My ad has now had over 500+ views, admittedly maybe 20 are me.
I had 62 emails of interest and and so many people asking if I would sell my modified parts separately.
In the past when I have advertised cars in Top Marques or Auto trader I have never had this kind of feedback.
What has amazed me is that not one enquiry has even resulted in a viewing.
I have to ask myself a few things,
1) Is the economy suddenly so bad no one is buying...I mean no one.
No, I didn't think so either.
2)Is the car totally over priced.
Well even if I say so myself, I dont think so. I can understand getting a lot of hits due to the popularity, but if the car was priced totally wrong no one would reply and show interest. Its not the most expensive RS4 on the website and as with all car sale prices are indicative.
3)Is it a car that is no longer in demand and dated?
Well once again Im biased, but I feel there is nothing quite as unique as my modified RS4.
So im interested,
Is anyone looking to buy?
What is a fair value?
What on earth can I replace it with?
Should I just keep it?
Open to suggestions.
All the best

I have just paid a deposit on the avus RS4 with the 458MTM upgrade that was only advertised on RS246 - pick it up Tuesday so I'm over the moon.
There are a few around at the moment and with the new model coming I was able to get the car at a good price given the options on the car
Most importantly it was a near 'perfect' car which I wanted
I'm still trying to sell my S4 avant whcih I will have to be negotiable on - its all swings and round abouts

Len, i have recently sold my RS4 via Autotrader for a good price. Took me a month to sell. I received many enquiries from Autotrader, here, TSN and Pistonheads but most turn out to be complete timewasters who can't be bothered to send a decent reply to emails, or RS4 wannabees wanting to PX their Civic Type R's and want a great RS4 car for nothing.
Good luck - if you've the patience to hang on in there, then i'm sure you will sell.

M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.
Well there are a glut of RS4's available at the moment, I really do believe there are a lot of people who are interested and intrigued by this car, and are probably thinking and holding on more then would have normally done, the elections didn’t help as Joe blogs seems to get a little nervous, I also think the new RS4 is playing a part in the way potential purchasers are thinking (i.e. If I wait will the B5 RS4's will they depreciate even further).
Its a similar situation in the industry I work in (Kit/Specialist Sports Cars), the industry has been very quiet with a lot of manufacturers selling little and even some reporting no sales for the last 5 month's, only in the last 2 weeks have things begun to pick up. In my magazine I have a classified a section for second-hand Kit Cars, and the majority of these are on a hold till sold basis, and there seems to be a lot more then normal going back in. I've also recognised a slip in circulation figures also in the last 6 month’s, nothing to major to worry about, but still enough to look at more promotional options and expenditure then we would normally do so this time of year.
I personally am looking at the purchase of an RS4 but I'm waiting to see the funds appear in my account (should be next week!) before I approach anyone as I seem to have already upset somebody in London by making an enquiry before I had secured the funds.
I wouldn’t lose heart, just hold on in there, if your keen to sell your car quickly then you may have to be more flexible on price, if not then hang on to it until you feel you’ve got the price you want for it. It’s always about supply and demand even for a special car like the RS4.

Not that relevent to cars, so apologies, but an interesting topic about public spending..
No one seems to be buying anything at all!
I've had a very saleable house on the market since February. 50 (FIFTY!) viewings, and I think every one of them has come back 2,3 even 4 times. People were bringing families round and tape measures and practically moving in and choosing curtains...
Offers: 0
Not even a pi$$ take.
Is it too expensive? maybe by 10 grand, but its not way overpriced. People just seem to timewasting at the moment, as if they're waiting for Armageddon or something. Very frustrating, I want to get out of here so my car can live in a garage, away from the local scrotes.

RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Bob, we're in the same position - lots of viewings, but no-one making offers but all complimentary about our house. Even the estate agents we are in contact with suggest that something odd is happening with the house market at the moment. Over the past week, more properties are going up for sale so this may stimulate a bit of interest before the end-of-June summer slow-down.
One thing for sure - we're heading for an economic slow-down

HOUSE PRICES ARE ON THE TURN, so is the economy, and with people sittiing around waiting to see what happens, things will remain unsold for a while I fear..........I went through all of this last year with a flat in North London, eventually sold, but resisted the temptaton to keep dropping the price as the agent suggested, and eventually got my sale. It seems that buyers are really looking to see what they get for their money before jumping, unlike a wee while ago when things were selling in days regardless
Swings and roundabouts. You have to have something that someone is specifically looking for. Perhaps it is too modified for the chap in the street that wants a nice dark blue RS4. Perhaps someone else doesn't want hi-tech, or another chap specifically wants Nav.
If I were you, either keep it, or sell the parts separately and reduce the car accordingly.
Someone will be prepared to but it as is, at that price - but you will just have to be patient.
Good luck with the sale, it is nice to see something different than an Avus car in the ads
Cheers
Ben

Re: Classified ads on RS246
Simply be patient until you get the price you feel is appropriate. I looked pretty extensively before securing my car including on this forum; it took a while too. In fact during my search there were far fewer available than can be seen in the various car selling haunts/forums at the moment.LAW wrote:So im interested,

Good cars often take time to find and when you add in personal requirements on spec that equates to lot of interest with no purchase...maybe

As far as what to replace it with.....crikey that's a tough one. Ordinarily I would not buy a car more than 1 year old but after my M3 the RS4 was the only real/true alternative that ticked all the boxes ...as far as what's next well at this juncture I won't change due to the lack of alternatives again. BUT as you posed the question, IF I were looking to change it would be because I fell out of love with the RS4.....unlikely

Some alternatives might be eg: B7 RS4 or E90 M3/4 or maybe, maybe a 997S when they are all less than £50k...that's it for me!
Good luck
