new S3 hunt initiated

Post by 1973P911toS4 » Wed May 04, 2005 10:10 pm

dispite the name I have ditched the idea of an S4 (although not entirely) for an S3, sold the porker yesterday  and now the desire to get into my new Audi is burning up  . I promised myself I wouldn't rush into this but the burning sensation is just too much. Budget is strictly no more than £12k and the closer I can get to £10 the better. I know this means an early S3 with generaly high milage but then these cars can rack up the miles.
Questions
When and how much is the cam belt service? - also is this the biggest "service" expense there is on an S3?
anything typical of a high miler i need to know (turbo burn out?)
I have seen a couple for sale tuned by Kim Collins any down side to 270bph?
any comments or cars for sale in my budget would be welcome

Hi mate,

Just bought one and was very well looked after by the company below. The guy you need to speak to is Alex and the last time I went to his lockup (Where the spares are kept) there were about 12 S3's, one of which I bought, it was like S3 Heaven!!! Details below if any use.

Hamski, haven't seen you on here for a while. I thought you bought your car from Michael in Salisbury. Last post I read from you I thought said you were banned. What did you give for yours, if you don't mind me asking ?

Chris.

It was Michael's car, but Croft were selling it. Was for sale on Autotrader privately earlier in the year I seem to remember. I ended up giving £20k for it. I am still banned  5 months and 9 days to go! But was thinking about selling only this morning. It's the sensible thing to do, but I fear big regret if I do.
