Dipstick

Post by Geoff A » Tue May 05, 2015 8:21 am

Have any of you bought a dipstick rather than rely solely on MMI for oil level checking? If so, anyone got a part number please so I can purchase the correct item? Thanks

I ended up purchasing the following:

Hope that helps

No worries :)

If you do not fancy ordering directly from them in the USA, try Awesome Gti in Manchester. They are official UK dealers for ECS products.

Thanks guys - passed the part number to my lad, who works for a local Skoda dealership and he has ordered the stick through the parts dept. Under a tenner on next-day delivery, so that's a result.

Does anyone know what the UK part number is for the dipstick please?

I think I took it from the ECS link above, and then did some googling to double check

Yeah I got it. At first Audi didn't want to know then I spoke to a guy and reasoned with him that it is used in the A6 that has the same engine. £9. Done.

As a new B8 S4 Avant owner (bought one yesterday)... Can I ask why you guys prefer a dipstick to the MMI interface?

Thanks

- Pete

Quite why something so fundamental as checking oil needs to be done electronically, is beyond me. A stick offers peace of mind and a chance to look things over while you're under there - otherwise, the only time you'd ever raise the bonnet is to fill screen wash. Maybe I'm just old school.....

I use both - MMI just to check. When it needs a top-up I use the dipstick

Do they do a short throw dipstick? They're a good mod apparently
