Do you know this RS4?

Post by RS4woah » Fri Jul 31, 2015 1:01 am

is this car known on here? I'm very tempted, it's close to me, is in the colour and spec I'm after, although it's just a the top of my price bracket which means not much of a slush fund for if it goes wrong....

What do you reckon?

Thanks! :bigwave:

I dont know the car, but it ticks all the boxes for spec, history and appears to come from an enthusiast (MRC links).

Only thing id check is DRC history and oil cooler.

If no probs there, you have a winner

Thanks S4won,

How many service stamps would you want to see in a car of that's age / mileage?

As above - new discs and pads is a hefty amount that's been spent.

Check DRC throughly and oil cooler and stamp wise, it depends how enthusiastic the owner has been with interim oil changes - you should see enough stamps correlating preferably to the fixed every 10,000 mile/yearly service regime and not the Long life service regime. The later was a choice of certain owners but the 10k/yearly is a sign of regular oil changes and a string of attentive owners, in my books...

It looks good - go see it!

I sold my 22k miler last year and it still had its full and regular history. I do not subscribe to the "no use, no need for service brigade." Stuff still perishes with time.

That said as long as the current owner has kept it up/recent serviced i wouldn't be too worried at this point unless you intend or may need to flip it id make sure it has as much as possible obvs.

If you are concerned, list it out and well give you our 2 cents

My dealer kept telling me I had to have the variable service and had no option for the fixed servicing. Having said that, I service it every year regardless of what the car or dealer says. Mine is a mid 2007 car with 68000 miles and has 8 stamps from Audi. I'd expect the same in a with 50k 40k or 30k too. Bit I understand many won't have this though and would have to base my decision to buy or not on the condition of the car and whether it seems to add up or not. You can generally tell a dog before you look at the paperwork.

Phone MRC and give them the reg - tell them you're thinking of buying it and they've worked on it, can they tell you what they know. They're more than helpful as you'll then likely go to them with it :)

It's been carbon cleaned and remapped apparently so they've done some work on it.

Thanks all. Really useful. Got images of the service history through. Would put it up on here, but seems a it off key to do that. It's got 5 stamps, 2 of which are long life, plus initial dealer inspection, also long life. Going to give MRC a call tomorrow morning hopefully they'll have good stuff to say. Also, current owner, who's a member on here, says DRC been done before he had it.
Cheers all!

Personally I think differently to the above, oil doesn't come with a shelf life saying that beyond 'xyz' date the oil is knackered!

Oil should be changed with regard to its usage and lots of short journeys will require more regular oil change intervals. If on the other hand like myself where the car will see irregular usage and when it does, it'll be 200-500 mile journeys. Then the oil change intervals can be longer. Modern engine/oil development has allowed for better oil longevity and the old 'train' of thought where you change oil every 8-10k mile is somewhat antiquated.

Then there's this one too... http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... dr/4527509

£3k cheaper but 40k more on the clock.

The seller emailed me service history and work carried out which I've attached here, had a look at the Priory Garage Doncaster, online and they don't seem to be an Audi specialist which is worrying me, and labour seems cheap, or perhaps I'm too used to London prices, does anybody know of them? And is there anything else that jumps out at you?

Also what's people thoughts on and RAC check, as you might have guessed I'm not very experienced with knowing about the workings of a car, (just love driving good ones) so keen to get a second pair of eyes on it before I drop £20k.

Thanks All!

Im always suspicious about handwritten service "stamps"
That one also doesnt have a flat bottom steering wheel which id want
I love the way the stealer says the car has been maintained regardless of cost - he forgot to mention it was carried out at the famous audi specialists - priory garage..

Nah, id avoid.

What is your budget and min spec?

Thanks S4won

Spec-wise I'm after:
Avant
Daytona Grey with black optics
OR
Black Limited Edition - unlikely for my budget?
Piano Black Woden trim OR Black nutmeg
Flat bottom wheel
ipod connectivity
Heated rear seats
Bose Premium Sound System
Seat and Mirror memory
Well maintained by specialist - DRC and oil done.
Un modified
Alacantra leather wheel, gear knob and handbrake.

Anything else you think i should add to my spec. list?

I'm looking at spending between £17-£20k, ideally nearer £17 as I'd like to wrap it in Nardo grey, and have some funds left as a starting kitty for up keep.

Thanks for the advice on the other one.

No way would a main dealer hand write a history entry, there is also no record of a plug change either.

To me that one looks like it was maintaind on a tight budget... not many 'stamps' and also some are not even main dealers or well known specialists.
