I had this on my R8, Audi told me I didn't brake hard enough in it and needed to be more aggressive, go on a few high speed runs and then brake really hard to cure it....

Mind you that was 4 years ago and the H&S fun police have no doubt prevented such advice ever being given now.

Does make you wonder what would have happened if I kicked off to replace the discs because I was cheesed off with the noise, for Audi UK to say it had been driven too hard lol.

Only dealers I have never had any issues with was Bentley. But when they are taking £8k off you for a service, they really ought to be offering you a choice of leggy Swedish swimwear model receptionists for executive relief whilst they hammer your AMEX lol

In fairness they replaced the front pads which got rid of the awful squeal but the brakes have now developed a loud ticking noise so it's been back with them since Wednesday.

The ticking speeds up and slows down in time with the wheel rotations and is worse under heavy braking whilst steering.

They've given me a brand new A8 as a loaner and the dealer is doing all they can to rectify.

They're talking a lot to Germany and I've said keep it until 'completely' cured which they've assured me will be the case.

The story continues....

I can hear it now - "sir, your Akrapovic exhaust is the issue".
No matter where you go, there you are.

Ha ha, they've been 'good as gold' to be fair.

New ceramic discs & pads all round have now been authorised (hooray!) Apparently they have a different part number so hopefully they're a later design. Should be back to me by Saturday as need to come from Germany :)

I'm missing the beast now and really looking forward to getting her back.
