The f'ing cahncil

Post by bobjebb » Thu Jul 02, 2015 10:20 pm

A rant here Just for interest perhaps...

I live in a very rural area with narrow country lanes in and out of a 4 house hamlet. Over the years and under the tractors, a few potholes have appeared. Otherwise the road surface has been more than adequate. It suits everyone just fine. No complaints, no petitions.

So then the letter arrives announcing a complete re-surface, of about 5 miles of road. Inconvenience aside - (everything closed, fraid tempers from the farmers and local traffic) The work was completely unnecessary, a few grand on pothole repair would have been fine. Someone somewhere in the council has had to spunk a few hundred grand as a budget spend red tape. It's worth noting that we are one of the few places on planet earth that has no internet connection whatsoever.

Many are thinking great, nice new tarmac, whats the problem...

I drove about 50 yards from my house at 5mph in the new RS6 and turned round sharpish. This <beep> was all in the discs and I'm picking razor sharp stone out of the new tyres. Fortunately I have a banger I can use - until such a time I'm happy to drive on it. It's a shocking cheap surface that someone has had to justify their job over, yet still will have cost plenty...

So, I think I know the answer to this but is there any reason for complaint here? They won't have sympathy I'm sure if I say my 90k shiny car will be damaged if I drive on your <beep> tar ridden surface, but I could argue it's not fit for purpose?!

Thanks for listening for anyone still here!

Never mind the tyres buddy. I'd hate to think how much tar has sprayed up your bodywork. I'd be livid.

Actually it's fine - only because I was able to drive back the 100 yards at sub walking pace and check it over. Detail is booked for tomorrow with Gtechniq C1 & Exo !
