Suspension problem update

Post by jonathanb » Sun Apr 17, 2005 10:30 pm

Since I last posted, I have not had any use of my RS6. A word to the wise, there are no RS6 accumulators ( stiifens the suspension at speed) for the suspension in existence in the world and I have two broken ones plus a burst front shock absorber. Epsom Audi have been very accommodating ( they arranged an A8 4.2 as a replacement albeit one with light grey seats- not a good mix with a three year old!) but I still only have an estimated date of delivery for the part which will mean that the car has been off the road for 6 weeks and I am not expecting it to be back before the 8 week mark. All those who responded to my last post with a noisy or creaky suspension might just want to get their cars checked and if it is the accumulator at the rear which stiffens the suspension then get them ordered now!!

mine is in just now. Both rear strutts leaking at pipe joint. Car was very bouncy at the rear and felt like the front suspension was going to fall off, noisy when any kind of bad road surface. All due to lack of suspension oil i would think. Did you notice yours leaking fluid Jonathanb ?

After first wanting to fit new rear strutts? they fitted new rear pipes and refilled with oil yesterday. Also in for first service, left it with them last Thursdsay, it was booked in to have the susp oil refilled and the unions to the rear strutts tightend up. Four hour job, got a call six hours later...it needs two rear strutts etc. As for parts waiting times, i have had loads of bits for it and the longest wait has been about a week. I take it they have no accumulators at the factory? Thing is does it really need one?? or even worse will they tell me mine does!!
