How accurate is the DIS average MPG?

Post by Merlot » Fri Apr 15, 2005 11:29 am

I always re-set the DIS memory 2 on re-fuelling but then check the average MPG when I fill up, using the litres/mileage driven figures. I am, however, consistently finding that the DIS overstates average MPG by 1.25/1.50 MPG. Anyone with similar experiences?

DIS memory 2 is the overall average isn't it. I've never re-set that, in order to give me an average for my driving since purchase, so can't say I've experienced what you suggest.... :?

Would you mind re-setting it next time you fill up and seeing what you get on the tank viz a viz the DIS? Thanks

Merlot,

Everyone I speak to has the same experience - mostly with the B5, but the B6 may be the same. I decided to correct mine. See http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... ic&t=47768 and hopefully the settings are the same on the B6.

Thanks Dippy. Does this mean that I can re-calibrate things?

Interestingly my 04MY S4 seems to over-read a lot more than my 03MY one.

On another topic, how accurate is the range? I've had mine down to 10-15 miles a lot but no lower. Its more relevant on the 04MY car where the fuel tank is 3 litres smaller. Does'nt sound a lot but its 15 miles.
