Deliveries delayed due to fire at supplier

Post by mat776 » Tue May 12, 2015 11:57 am

Audi published a document this morning explaining that deliveries of A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, Q5 and new R8 may be delayed.

Cars affected are those which have confirmed BW 16,17,18 and they go on to say that some later BW's may be affected as well.

A fire in a factory of a suppier of door handles is to blame.

They say that the interruption may delay deliveries by up to six weeks.

Well well. i knew something would go wrong....

Could someone advise please if I have the right to therefore cancel/defer delivery until 2016? I went through this process PURELY to have the car for summer 2015 for French trip, not Autumn as the <beep> weather starts...

Cheers

bobjebb couldnt have put it better myself not lucky enough to take it on a trip. But this all started last year for me too last summer infact then the pause of orders due to FL sigh of relief finally ordered november BW 24 currently. If this delays even further then i dont know what to do i want the car for summer to enjoy it will probably come july august if lucky. Then the case of 15 or 65 plate and as you stated the beginning of crap weather all i would do would collect and straighjt into garage until next summer is it really worth it. A year on My C6 gone 1 cancelled order with local dealer due to a error dealer made now onto another and still seems to be no better ive sent an email to dealer will see what he says give it till end of month or BW if no update then .  .

Here's my reply from dealer:

Hi Robert,

This bulletin was published this morning. It says further:

So far, vehicles with a confirmed build week of 16, 17 or 18 will be affected. Cars in future weeks may be affected too. We’ll publish more information as soon as it’s available.

We aren’t able to quantify the effect on individual vehicles and any resulting delay in delivery. The sales office does not have a list of affected cars.

Your car is build week 20, and this bulletin does not specify RS6, just A6, so I am hopeful yours will not be affected.

From what I can see, I can only observe updates on the system and if there are any changes to your particular slot I will of course let you know.

Best wishes
Clare

I'm going to politely refer to the issues we seem to be both concerned about. Clare has been very good in keeping in touch so obviously I'll post any updates.

I am not sure that I should publish it as it is not mine to publish and I am not sure of implications.
But I can say that it was published to Audi desktop this morning and your dealer should know about it if not be able to find it !

The document is called AU0471-15 of 12th May 2015

Hope that helps !

"We aren’t able to quantify the effect on individual vehicles and any resulting delay in delivery............. The sales office does not have a list of affected cars."

is exactly how the document reads.

she is correct that RS6 is not specified, but the document clearly states that "A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, Q5 and new R8 affected " - not just A6 as she says in your email.

It also does tell the dealers that more information will be published as soon as it is available and that system data will only be updated when vehicles are moved out of the factory with all the required parts fitted !

FYI
It appears that this fire was a few weeks ago and that it doesn't look like it does affect RS6 - (its unconfirmed though !)

I apologize if by posting the thread I have raised peoples heart rate's unnecessarily (if that proves to be the case)

Just thought you might all like to know !

Not sure how it can't affect the RS6 if the A6 is affected - it's not like we have sportier door handles on our cars...
