I've just had my front discs skimmed by Hutfields of Botley. Very knowledgeable staff who are genuinely interested in the (decent) cars they're working on. I watched the whole process, the machine is a really decent bit of kit. It did its thing and they put in my new DS2500 pads while I was there. They worked meticulously, cleaning, copper slipping, torquing it all back up.. I'm very ocd about things, usually doing brakes myself but I was 100% happy with their work.
I've given them a couple hundred miles to bed in and tried braking gently from high speed which is where the judder was occurring. It was silky smooth, perfect!
It looks like there's a slight run out on one of the hubs that's been causing the recurring judder problem. Hopefully now they're matched to the hubs they will stay smooth.
£40 + vat per disc which is very cheap considering the price we pay for new discs!
