Ha, no chance. As I walk by each morning I'm making extra effort to see what's in there for handover. This week they had ready for handover an SQ5, an Etron A3 and on Thursday a lovely dark blue facelift RS6. So I'm sure I'll see yours soon! :bigwave:

Settling down for the long wait

Post by Moonmonkey831 » Mon Apr 27, 2015 10:14 am

Yep that's right, just some gel and a mini compressor, which isn't much use for anything more than a simple puncture and I personally wouldn't feel safe putting 450hp through a tyre that has just had some superglue put on it.

Guess that's why having the RAC cover for the first 3 years is useful

Current: 2017 RS6 Performance in Nardo Grey
Previous: 2014 RS4 in Sepang Blue; 2011 Q5 3.0TDi Sline Plus in Ibis White; 2007 Audi S5 4.2 V8 in Phantom Black; 2006 VW Golf GTi in Tornado Red; 1998 VW Golf 1.9 TDi in Navy Blue; 1988 VW Polo 1.0 in Gold

Yeah - since the b5 - no spare wheel, jack and tools, a compressor (actually quite useful for non-car stuff!!), and a bottle of gumpf (glue). When you have a puncture, let it down, put in the gumpf, blow it up. Drive at less than 50, completely replace the tyre, and buy more gumpf from Audi.

So the glue will ruin the tyre - knocks it right out of balance, impossible to clean off.

What I did was goto halfords / etc and buy two Cans of Tyre Weld, does the same job, arguably better, and certainly with no faff (the can has the compressed air in it.....!) - and has the same result. Cheaper than the Audi gumpf.

If it's a slow enough puncture, plot a route via garages to blow it up until you get to a repair one, in the hope that it can be fixed and therefore you've not ruined it with gumpf / tyre weld.

If it's a major puncture, the gumpf or tyre weld will not work, that's the Brakedown Service and a tow to a 24/7 tyre garage (which do exist) for an immediate new tyre - btw this would be my default call for any puncture.

LOVELY - the problem with Audi City is that the service depot is about 5 miles away, and in a secure compound..... it's probably the hardest dealer to SWING BY :-) chuffed for you mate, I'm just sat awaiting news......
