Pink Ladys or Braeburns? I've never really had an issue with Apples, except Golden Delicious, they should be reprimanded under the sale of goods act in my opinion. I don't think there's anything golden or delicious about them what so ever. But that doesn't affect the sales of RS4's, does it?

Latest news on the B9, and still no mention or sight of the RS...

http://www.worldcarfans.com/11503319142 ... al-testing
After yesterday's trio of revealing spy shots from China, the all-new Audi A4 (B9) has returned in an additional batch of images from Europe.
Set to be unveiled in the following months, Audi's next generation A4 has grown in size but nevertheless it should lose about 100 kg (220 lbs) as a result of making the switch to the MLB Evo platform. It looks more refined than the outgoing model and should provide a more spacious cabin. Speaking of which, in some of the attached images you will notice the rather controversial free-standing display also captured on camera in yesterday’s story.
More than a month ago, Spanish media managed to acquire extensive details about the engine lineup which is expected to kick off with a 1.4 TFSI rated at 125 HP (92 kW) and go up to a 3.0 TFSI with 272 HP (200 kW). On the diesel side, the entry-level choice will be a 1.6 TDI with 120 HP (88 kW) while the range-topping version should be a 3.0 TDI with 260 HP (191 kW). Also on offer will likely be a 2.0 TDI e-tron with 190 HP + 136 HP (from two electric motors).
A public debut is set for September at the Frankfurt Motor Show but Audi will unveil its new compact premium sedan online before that, possibly late August.

It would seem Audi are sticking with their "Release the RS last strategy". The Avant and S4 have only just been spotted testing...

I don't like it yet.... ALTHOUGH reading this stuff the S4 will be blown and quicker than the RS4 B8.....

.....Could that therefore mean we're in for an even more MEGA RS4 in 2/3years?... Better go make more money - I don't want to part with the B8 (and I've not even got it yet..)
Zero Drama

All summation.
Considering what y'all know about the package, current industry down-sizing and Audi's legacy.
It's gotta be a V6BiT... innit?

Other options:

- V6SC - more than likely to stay in the S4, eking more out of it and banging it in the RS4 will just look cheap and desperate. Imagine the press reviews opening lines "so this is basically the same engine that's in Audi's penultimate A4 model, with a few tweaks..." - DO NOT WANT.jpeg
The variation on this is to lop a cylinder off each bank from the 4.2 V8 32v FSI then strap on a charger. This essentially becomes a 190cu high-revving V6 blown RS4 mated to a 8/9 speed S-Tronic. Seems 'doable' but might be a little highly strung for the MLB weight band, IMO.

- IL5T - any thoughts? I cannot see it happening BUT never say never, this powertrain is popping up everywhere in the Audi line-up.

- V6BiT - Shares the same block as S4 but is bi-turbo, ergo more power, more efficiently. It's an easy sell, it differentiates itself from the rest of the line up (in true RS style) but also cashes in on some cool Audi history "The Gen 1 RS4 legend returns blablabla".

- TwinchargedV6 - Just think a scaled up version of the VAG IL1.4T, seems very unlikely, it's gunna be expensive and the R&D would be prolonged bla bla. However, the prospect of this would give me a year-long erection.

Hybrid - For a 2016 launch date it might be expected and becoming the norm but I know stuff all about electrics, so, whatever.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Good god...those wing mirrors are hideous, never liked them on the A1 and they certainly don't suit a bigger car!

500bhp V8TT would be the right engine, no fake noise required then either :bigblink:

Imagine a tuned 650+ v8tt in RS4 size  .............that's my perfect car.

It's going to have to be good,my mates M4 is impressive standard and will be a seriously quick car re mapped, the b9 needs to move things on in the performance level as it's been static since the b5 in 2000.V6 turbo would be nice, let's hope they sort the handling and steering as it's pretty damn fine in the M4.

One thing for certain - not a naturally aspirated v8

Believe me after owning a b7 then 8
It will be a breath of fresh air have something turbocharged or supercharged, will be getting some good gains with mapping in the future :beerchug:
