DMS or Revo for RS4
bjacks wrote:So, who's got a mechanical boost guage connected their car running Revo or anyone elses software? I'd like to see how far the levels actually go.
I've never had my car screeching (but it did pink like fcuk today in 2nd) so I guess the boost levels that AmD/Sportec set are not as high as others.
@Mihnea - can you run more boost with an FMIC due to lower IAT's and more reliability?
Cheers all
Ben
Ben I'd certainly like to get one fixed but one thing I saw with RS4John's car/gauge was that it was difficult to get a proper reading due to the needle flicking all over the place! I guess you'd need to try and record this using an electronic instrument.
Someone else can do this maybe as I've now made the decision to keep the car standard (until i'm bored anyway
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.
Devil's Advocate here - not wanting to endorse one tuning method or another, just looking to gain a better understanding before taking the plunge, as I keep changing my mind.
So, someone has a low mileage RS4 with Audi warranty - the options are an 'undetectable' remap via ODB port that is 'switchable', and therefore will not affect Insurance or any warranty work. The other, a 'custom/cloned', 'permanent' version which means removal of ECU. They both produce similar levels of power increase.
IF all of the above is accurate, and assuming neither do any damage if fitted correctly, why would anyone opt for the latter version, bearing in mind surely, the two most important criteria are protecting a cars warranty and its owner's insurance premiums?!
Again, just playing Devil's Advocate or am I missing something?
Thanks, experts.

If its any consolation lost me too!
At the end of the day I now have what appears to be an MTM chipped car and I'm certain I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this chip and any other. Car drives well and once my other issues are resolved I expect to be happy so long as the chip proves reliable. Not my chosen path but hopefully same result via a different route.

I came to the same conclusion as you and was very happy to go with the Revo until car went to Dialynx and turned out to be chipped already! Now left with a whole raft of unexpected issues instead. However, none of this has changed my original feelings. Its also a lot to do with peace of mind and confidence in the car and product and service etc. Might sound trite but you just need to be happy.IF all of the above is accurate, and assuming neither do any damage if fitted correctly, why would anyone opt for the latter version,
