I think the logistics of Austria are different. Nearest port probably somewhere near Crotia and would also mean sailing all the way around Italy to get to UK. This maybe why they use the transporter direct from factory.
Has yours arrived miatang?

Nastro - my dealer did some hunting, my car is shown at port, but apparently their are currently problems at port, something to do with the sea, and it being controlled by the moon and wind.....

Ours could be on the same ship!!

It may well be on the same ship! Here's hoping!
Your dealer seems a lot more proactive than mine when it comes to finding out where the car is!
I've given up now!

So if they are on the ship, how long till we get them???

Well - so mines at port in Germany, Audi City are still being very strong about me having the motor by the 28th.

Tough call, it needs to get a boat - could wait for a week or so, 2-3 days sail (in reality 1 day) then sit in a field in the UK - i Think that can be upto 5 days ish (I;d be embarrassed if it was Grimsby....) and then get collected by a truck, unwrapped, configured - keys etc, PDI'd Polished with Autospank, delivered to showroom, collected.

I could really do with having it on the B/H weekend

This could be the difference between you & boff & the dealers feed back. Although I've just checked at Wimbledon magistrates court & his dealer has filed for a restraining order, they don't appreciate his fidgeting on the dealership door step whilst waiting for his car.

I know dude, just jesting obviously. I was lucky with mine, I only waited a week. But I'm impatient and rarely buy new for that very reason.

Do you manage to sleep at night at all? I have visions of you flying to germany, sailing the ship & unloading the car just to make sure it gets over ASAP.

yeah of course, and I get it, my own state waiting for this car is making me chuckle at myself.

When I saw that image with the Factory collection box on it from mailing, the drummer nearly got wicked.

It's consuming me, and I've got to make more money to pay for it!!! ah haaaaa

Mines still at Grimsby mate. Back log of about 2000 cars to clear before any new deliveries go out.

I'm getting mine detailed with gtechniq so thankfully no need to wait for PDI etc.

Yeah I was gonna do that - but they threw in the Autospank, so I decided just to roll with that for a few months.

How much is the detailing costing you?

2000 cars!!, ouch, so maths again - trucks carry 8-10 vehicles. that's worst case 250 trucks, how many do you think go in and out per day?

Not forgetting that the port is VWAG so their will be golfs, and polos and passats, etc etc there

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_carrier_trailer

The backlog must mean that they are sending to a different port? - this system for delivering cars is crap :audibash:

The gtechniq is costing me £700 including the Crystal Serum and EXO.

I imagine the trucks only run mon to fri so that would have to be 50 trucks a day to clear the 2000 and I cant see them loading 50 trucks in one day from the port. Hopefully will be at dealer sometime next week for a possible weekend collection or early the week after.

I dont think they are diverting cars to other ports, they still sending them to you dealers closet port. I read leapingdepree thread and his car was delayed at Grimsby for a few weeks due to this backlog.

http://www.pwl.de/en/services/liner/roro
This shows the boat schedules for VAG coming out of Emden if you know when your car goes on boat

Alternatively if your dealer tells you the boat name you can track it on
http://www.marinetraffic.com/

If your lucky yours will go to Sheerness

I'd imagine you could put it on anything mate. If I'd known about it sooner I might even have gone for another black car :beerchug:
