My ring trip

Post by boombastik » Wed Apr 15, 2015 7:01 pm

Thought I would post up my experience.

Just returned from the Nurburgring and was one of the best experiences I could have ever imagined.
Did 4 laps with the car giving it 10min to cool before each run.
Meet a group of lads from Fife who have been regulars at the ring since 2007 and they were quick
Car never missed a beat low oil warning gave me some issues at the start of the journey which I can only put as a faulty sensor.

Any one thinking about wanting to go drive the Nurburgring just do it

Some onboard with the go pro excuse the quality as I posted these straight after I was finished so no editing has been done.

Quality. Liked the bit taking the Skoda on the inside line - guessing that's where the photo on Facebook was taken. Nice photo for the house.

Jealous much. You were busy at Nurburgring whilst I was making do with the road between Echo & Dunecht

Yeah there is about 18 pictures of me on the Nurburgring app I think I'll buy a couple hi res ones for the house.

Think I'll have to go back again and get a squad of us over.

Was it you I met there the other week? I met a couple of RS owners whilst there :)

If you're thinking of going back, let me know when - I'm there 3-4 times a year and have been going since 2009 now. Love the place.

Are you taking the car or the bike? You southerners are lucky the ring is basically on your door step compared to me away up in the north east corner of Scotland which is miles from anywhere lol

Enjoys yourselves and be safe

Fly into Düsseldorf, rent a swift for a weekend. Save a fortune, less risk, and twice the fun :p

Cheers, taking the car. It would be nice to tow the bike over but it looks a bit sketchy with bikes/cars mixing. Plus I'm paralyzed from the waist down so if i came off the bike I couldn't get out the way very quickly. Will be interesting to see how the RS6 does, at least the brakes should be a bit more up to the job than the standard ones.

Yep, living in the south sometimes has it's benefits! Roads down here are mostly crap though, there's a few nice ones in Devon but that's about it :/ I need to take a trip up to the peak district at some point.

I got the ferry from Newcastle to imjuiden the distance from imjuiden was about 270miles.

I used a tank from aberdeen to Newcastle. I filled up before going on the ferry, I then topped up the tank at the German border and drove to the ring did my four laps and then had about 1/4 tank left which I filled at the ring and used to get back to the ferry and filled the car at Alnwick on the way back to aberdeen.

I kept all file receipts and it was just over £200 in fuel, the ferry cost £365 return

Wet laps are the by far the best. I have 20+ laps in the rain and I love them the most!
