Keith Murray's A4
Has anyone seen Keith Murray's (I am assuming of Dialynx) red A4 Quattro that he raced at Castle Combe recently?
I have read about the race result (he came first) and have seen a picture of the front. It has RS4 front bumper, grill and front arches. I wondered whether it was a saloon or an actual RS4 - that the press has incorrectly reported is an A4 Quattro.
Cheers,
John

RE: Keith Murray
It's an A4, I spoke to Keith a while back after he'd grafted on the RS4 bits. Hopefully will see it this weekend.

Yes saw the car, looks the biz, looks like a sequential box, unfortunately Keith wasn't there to discuss. Think it's running a NA engine. Hopefully will see Keith next week and discuss it further.

And a great day was had by all!
Keith's car started life as a standard 1.8 A4 on an R plate and if I remember rightly it was dark grey. He was given it for spares some years ago and only really started work on it at Christmas. It has a standard RS4 body kit on it apart from the rear wheel arches and end obviously, which he has pulled out himself. It is still running its 1.8 engine but now has a turbo fitted. The class requires standard clutch and gearbox and no more than 2 litres with a turbo. He has also fitted a quattro system and obviously has done some work on the engine but not for me to say any more than that here
It was very impressive in the race and wasn't really pushed at all, which is all the more impressive since it was Keith's first competitive race ever and only the 5th time he'd actually driven the car. He also won the driver of the day award! By his own admission there is still work to do, especially on the handling and apart from the next double header race I think he plans to take it to the GTI event in May and do the sprint. Trust me- this thing is quick!
Its quite amazing what he's done with an old A4 and 1.8 litres. And there's more to come

As yet still unbeaten and leading the championship. Next race is Whitsun Bank Holiday Monday at Castle Combe. He now has better tyres and would like to beat the lap record.
Worth mentioning that the car has rather upset the established clique at Combe who resent a newcomer coming in and winning all the races. If you want a laugh have a read of the Castle Combe forum:http://www.racecarnewmedia.co.uk/castle ... PIC_ID=152
Really upset the establishment
There's loads of really awful slagging off from people who should know better and who should welcome competition and a fair bit of Audi bashing
The car just goes on winning though

Very eloquently put my friendThey sound like a bunch of tw*ts to me!!
Serves 'em right for owning poxy astra's and french poo!!

It actually gets better. At previous meets they've set the scrutineers to look for a second turbo on the car, a 6 speed gearbox, illegal fuel and all sorts of other rubbish. The last objection cost one guy £75 to lodge and he's one of the ones complaining about not being able to afford to race

Quite looking forward to next Monday now
