I agree. There's definately time to be shaved it's just trying to piece it all together in one lap. Looks like i've gotta get the M5 outta the garage again. :D

Still not on arcade yet, down to a 6'13.018 with 4/5 small mistakes (ghost recorded of course).

Just out of interest, what's the fastest thing that has ever been around the ring in real life and what time did it do it in?? If it's anywhere near the time above then it must be absolutely eye blistering to drive it at that speed, is on the station....

Stefan Bellof in a Porsche 956 clocked 6:13 whilst qualifying for the sportscar race in the early 80's.

Have a look at Derek Bell's in-car 956 video if you get a chance, lap is not as fast, but still stunning.

Are you guys all using steering wheels/ pedals ??

I'm coming round to the idea of splashing the cash  and want to know what is the best setup to buy.
I assume its difficult to make good times with just the standard controllers, or am I wrong.

Funny thing is the other car forum I visit are also talking about having a championship at present ;)

Yeah I think its same all over both the S2000 forum and Type-R forums all have championships going..... but they are allowing modded cars which is no fun.... its always satisfying trying to hussle a big heavy lump that dont quite corner right or stop well enough and get a good time......

I'm amazed how they have achived the feeling of hauling a cars heavy ass to a stop.... I mean the RS6 and M3 are exactly how I would imagin them:-

M3 - Pin sharp turn in..... but one wheel on the kerb or grass and it will bite ya ass
RS6 - Relentless accelaration, and good at ironing out drive mistakes
S2000 - Revs go on for ever.... Skitish Rear end.....

By the way, I think the two analogue sticks are as good as any wheel... I have a wheel but dont use it, mainly cos there is no where to mount it in the front room....... I have used it once and it felt good, but its probably worth buying the GT4 wheels as it has 1.5 turns each way (i think) so more like a real car than the 270degree turning my Logitech has....

I use the Driving Force wheel and pedals. It comes with a lap attachment so you don't need it fixed to a desk. It's not perfect but is, in my opinion much better than a controller. It's only 2/3 rotation lock to lock but since it works fine and also works on my PC etc it's what I'm gonna keep with. The pedals are a little lightly sprung but then commenting about this is being too serious for what is afterall just a fun play thing.

Gavster - I agree that it's amazing how they transfer the feeling through the wheel and it's like you can feel so much. It's so well done and each car so well modelled. I had no idea MX5's were so oversteery!! The RS6 seems incredibly heavy but just powers on and on. The M5 just seems to well sorted.

for those that don't have one yet (like me) I have been looking around at who sells them for the best price.
So far Argos are the winners at 115 for the ps2 slim and GT4 (no memory card though) http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/store ... tId=132178
Store collection only for that price.
I feel a trip to Argos coming on this weekend :biggrin2:

Does anyone use theirs for playing DVDs ??
If so, whats the quality like, and is it worth getting the seperate remote ?
I'm trying to swing this partly on the basis that we can use it as a more convenient DVD player than the 200 disk changer we currently use (which is a pain to load a single rental disk).

I got mine from Argos for £115. Asda are doing a PS2 Tripple Pack for £30, which includes Sony 8Mb Mem Card, Additional Sony PS2 controller, and Sony PS2 Remote Control.

Bargain

Fantastic game, so addictive.
Sorry David. I just got a 7:39:058 in the M5. :P

I reckon a perfect lap would be a 7:2x:xxx

I've got a steering wheel now, only done about 4 laps with it but the times have gone backwards !

Hoping to get another go tonight.

I agree that 7:20 is possible. Do you switch the esp and traction control off btw ?
