Anyone interested in two RS4's for sale?

Post by johnnydog » Sun Mar 22, 2015 2:00 am

Just a heads up on two RS4's coming up for sale at Bristish Car Auctions at Bedford on 25th March....
Both are in the Audi Closed Sale, so you would need to enrol the help of a BCA trade account holder.

1) 14 reg, reg May 2014, 2,800 warranted miles, Prism Silver, V spoke alloys, ceramics, Black Styling Pack, Buckets, Piano black inlays, Top speed increase to 174mph, Sports Pack, Exclusive floor mats.

2) 14 reg, reg July 2014, 639 warranted miles, Audi exclusive paint (not sure of the name, but looks good - its a little darker than Sepang), High Gloss Rotors, Advanced key, Drivers Assistance Pack, Super Sports seats with Memory, Auto Dim /folding miroors, Mobile phone prep high, B & O, Privacy Glass, Matt Alu Styling Pack, Pano sunroof, Reversible Load floor mats

Both are booking at £42k ish trade, but this is on a standard car and doesn't figure in any options. Their value is subjective, and worth what you want to pay I suppose. The ceramics on the silver one are a major plus, I would argue, and will probably bump the price of the car up somewhat, although it depends if you like silver...

So if you're in the market for a used RS4, these could save you a few quid, but you'd have to have the cash waiting, as they don't do finance deals!!!!!

1st car sounds a nice spec - I always liked silver as it's probably the best colour for showing off the arches

I have always thought that bigger cars need in darker / stronger colours. Silver is ok for for medium sized stars ( A3 or Golf size), but the RS4 looks better in something that shouts out. IMO, anyway.....

Jonny, if you get wind of where they end up, could you post (or pm), the location of the prism one, please?

Certainly. But if you are interested in the Prism one and it ends up at an Audi dealer, then you would have to pay their mark up over and above the price at auction. I know most of us use Audi finance deals to purchase them, but if you have the cash under your mattress waiting for the right car, then I'd be having a trip to Bedford to save a few grand!

Cheers, I appreciate your point (and paying the minimum is obviously a good thing), but buying through an Audi dealer gives some protection (however pony some, not all, of them are).

I love Prism and as above, it brings the arches out. Black pack essential!

PS, any trainee fat lads manage to squeeze into buckets?

With this age of car, I would argue there's hardly any more protection buying from an Audi dealer than at BCA. Maybe the ability to return the vehicle to Audi within a short space of time if you have a justifiable reason for returning the car? After all, BCA is one source of their vehicles, and bearing in mind both of these RS4's are from Audi sources, and have over two years of their Audi warranty remaining, so as long as you satisfy yourself with the standard of the bodywork (as you would do with one on a forecourt anyway), should any mechanical issues develop (which I doubt anyway), these will be covered by the normal warranty. All BCA cars are HPI checked, and the indemnity payable on top of the hammer price safeguards from wrong title, insurance losses, stolen recovered, and if BCA Assured, then major mechanical issues are covered for approx. 500 miles over a few days. This is an independent examination primarily with older vehicles than these two, to safeguard the purchaser from vehicles knowingly sold with major defects, which shouldn't be an issue in this case.
If they fit the spec you want, and you have the funds available, then I know what I would be doing!!

Well that's a toughie Johnny. Personally, I'd always finance a car - not tying up capital in a depreciating asset etc.

If I'm honest, I had been ignorant about the level of protection available from BCA. There are just too many logistical challenges though (for me). If I bought from a Dealer, I'd want to get some assurance over the state of the ceramics too.

Now the RS3 launch has been transformed into a glorious clusterf@@k it's RS4, RS6 or Cayman.

Will be interested to see which, if any, dealer gets this and how much they list it for.

If you got the cash why not buy, no point in having your pants pulled down twice! Each to there own I guess

Having had ceramics on my B7 Avant, I would say that the only problem you could encounter with ceramics is if a stone has got wedged between the backplate or pad and the disc causing scouring.
Damage could also be caused by very clumsy / heavy handed maintenance work by a technician (i.e. using a hammer to separate a joint or the like and hitting the disc - very very rare I would think but could happen, I suppose....although you wouldn't expect that its been into the workshop except for its pdi!)
The problems encountered with some early ceramics on the B7's where the bolts securing the disc to the centre were replaced under warranty, and the hair line cracks issue seem to be have been sorted a while back and shouldn't be a problem on the B8.
On a car with this sort of mileage, I don't think you would have any issues, although you are naturally right to be cautious!
Decisions, decisions....!!

Without going into too many details over the Internet, let's just say not in this tax year! If it does pop up at an Audi dealer, I'd look at its sale price in isolation. Plus I wouldn't know anybody with access to the audi only auction!

Like you say, it will interesting to see where they turn up, and the mark up over and above the book price. But you will never know the price paid though...it could be above or below book, depending on spec, who is on for it on the day and if they have a buyer on for the car already.

If you get the right deal you can have the best of both worlds leave the money in the bank/investment and cover the interest. I'd never give a dealer my cash unless I was rich :). Some of us on here must be.

At current interest rates, I think you'd need to be a very astute investor to get an interest rate that would repay the interest on the finance, unless I've missed an opportunity!

As regards the two RS4's at BCA on the 25th, as Dribbler has said, the Prism Silver one (OV14VHG) is listed at Camberley Audi for £52,841 ( how do they arrive at that figure??). The listing doesn't have photos as yet and it doesn't mention the ceramics, but that may change when the car listing is finalised.
The Audi Exclusive blue one (OE14YCG) is at Watford Audi at £52,750. No pictures as yet.
Probably a tidy mark up!
