Oh yeh ... And the R36 was prone to the similar top strut mount gently thump/clunk similar to what's been mentioned in another thread, but only after around 140,000kms

And that's getting fixed right now! :biggrin3:

Thought it was just me. My RS4 does not seem as quick through the gears as my RS6 . Would spinning turbos give a more instantaneous acceleration hit than just plain injection. I use the 4 and the 6 alternately so really notice. I had expected my 2013 4 to be quicker than my 2003 6. The 4 has more bells and whistles but the old growler still seems to have the edge.

Momentary power loss?

Post by carsarecool » Mon Mar 16, 2015 9:28 pm

Driving down the M4 today I indicated to pull out into fast lane and hit the gas pedal, the gearbox was in D5 but it just revved......I tried again and it did the same. Stuck it into neutral and back and it sorted itself out. Called Audi assistance who came out but found no errors. They suggested i stick it into Audi West London. A couple of calls from Audi CS and I pick up an S8 tomorrow whilst AWL sort my car out.....luckily I know someone there and they are going to have a look at my drivers side front shock, both Reading and Basingstoke have dismissed the knock.....blaming my Milltek. Let's see what happens.

Fast lane? There is no fast lane. just keep left unless overtaking.

You can drive just as fast in lane 1 as you can in 3. It's true, I tried it once.

:nodder:
It's all torque talk.

Fair point. However, for many there seems to be just one lane.....the middle. Image

On the M4, the middle lane is the lane of choice it would seem. Especially if you're only doing 60 :FIREdevil:
The left hand land, however, serves as only an inconvenience for when travelling to or from the middle lane from whichever exit one would be joining or exiting the motorway from...

Momentary power loss?

Post by carsarecool » Wed Mar 18, 2015 8:11 am

You don't have to rag it to be quick and it's like driving an electric car it's so quiet....RS4 with that engine......perfection (with more noise). I know RS6 has it but that's a lump of a car much like the S8.

New strategy for engaging Audi. I called Reading to explain my fault. They were useless and simply said book it in in next 2 weeks. I called Audi Assistance. Technician was at my office within 90 minutes, West London are 500 yards up from where I work so he booked me in there for the next day. Got a call from Audi CS explaining they were in the process of finding me a car. Got a call back an hour later to be asked if an S8 was OK and that it would be at West London by 11. I arrived early as had concall and saw the S8 arrive at 10:30. Was met in reception by name, given a coffee and the keys and had time to order a touch up kit, within 15 minutes I was on my way.

That's what I call customer service. Must have been my lucky day as having problems with Vodafone and they called me offering an iPhone 6 as recompense for screwing me about for the past few months.

Would've been a good day to buy that lottery ticket :)

My experience of Audi West London was pretty poor, but that was on the sales side

I've had mine from new (13 Months) and had this happen a few times and every time at a roundabout, I don't believe I was touching the brake at the same time.
Also got the dreaded knocking from the suspension that I had on my RS5
