There are at least 3 errors in this description and one major fib that could leave someone seriously out of pocket, how many can you find?

Some of the options are standard - Power-operated tailgate, High beam assist, Carbon Fibre Interior Trim, Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror.
And I'm guessing the biggy is that its had a tune and they are quoting the reassurance of the Audi Warranty

I got not Matrix
Not Carbon interior as an option
Not parking Plus as standard
And yeah, quoting audi warranty with that mod is a biggie, i guess
The prize? Hmmm, satisfaction of 6 minutes well spent?

The balance of the Audi Warranty doesn't become void just because the car has a Performance upgrade. Sure if the engine goes bang & it's viewed (proved) as being the fault of the Remap then Audi will be looking to void that claim, but all the other thousands of components & issues that could arise would still be more than covered.
Also having used a quality tuner, the Remap itself has a full warranty so if Audi did try to wriggle out of a claim arising from said tune, DMS would step in & cover the repair costs. TBH, i know who i'd prefer entrusting the replacement of key engine parts too.
I had a C5 RS6 box go pop (that car was AmD/Sportec tuned) & i had no warranty issues, also had an E60 M5 SMG box go pop (that car was DMS tuned) & again no warranty issues.

"This car comes with the benefit and reassurance of Audi’s 3 year manufacturer warranty until April 2017"
Unless you have a different warranty booklet than me, this is misleading at best.
There are no matrix lights on this car, the carbon interior was not an option someone paid for. This dealer is clearly inept.
You got a payout in warranty? Nice one!
Google "Audi TD1" for all those who have had claims turned down and feel those tears.
Im sure DMS are a reputable company and is a great tune, you are clearly a happy customer.
From what I've read on the ZF gearbox (on wiki, granted) its good up to about 700nm which is... Oh wait....

I'm guessing that includes engine mods.
Throw the dice if you want, I wont be.
And I feel for whoever buys that car, something fails, then trys to get anything out of the dealer, he will just quote the handbook, say its not his problem and walk away.
Re: Spot the mistake(s)
I'm not disputing the 'other' mistakes, just the point you make about 'warranty' which is factually & real world incorrect. I'm more than aware how these things are worded, but it's not the case that unrelated unmodified parts wouldn't be covered by the manufacturers warranty so that aspect of the advert is fine as the balance of the Mfctrs warranty is fully correct but it wouldn't (& anyone with an ounce of common sense would know this) cover modified &/or non standard parts.S4WON wrote:The advert states:W8PMC wrote:Where's the lie?S4WON wrote:I got not Matrix

If the MFD went t1ts up or the pan roof stopped working or the climate control went nuts etc. etc., Audi would not win a battle as to whether they should pay or not due to a remap. If the box went pop & it was clear the remap had exceeded tolerance then defo you'd be fighting a losing battle.
Simple point is the Audi warranty is still present & operational with a remap, purely now a case that certain items are unlikely to be covered in quite the same way.
I've no idea what the C7 RS6's box is rated to, but i'd expect it to be higher than 700nm as that's stock torque on the car.

Re: Spot the mistake(s)
The Audi gearbox is a ZF 8HP55AHIS
ZF, in an email I received last year, said that it was capable of 800Nm plus but their website makes the waters a little muddier:
http://www.zf.com/corporate/en_de/produ ... ml#tabs1-1
I tend to agree with S4WON. Modding a car is a gamble with the warranty on anything which can be seen to have been potentially caused by the mod.

I was at Geneva today on the Bentley stand and their Mulsanne had a plaque next to it saying it has 1,100Nm going through the ZF8 ... Not sure if that was a typo as that's a shed load of torque!

Re: Spot the mistake(s)
Totally agree, however the O/P was making a point that the advert was untrue by saying that car had the balance of it's Audi Warranty. It DOES have the balance of it's Audi warranty so no untruth in that aspect of the advert. A car that's been remapped does not lose it's warranty. It 'may' struggle in a claim that's found to arise 'as a result' of a remap & that's where any reputable tuner would step in with their warranty, but an Audi (or any other car for that matter) that's been remapped does not LOSE it's mfctrs warranty.DragonRR wrote:The Audi gearbox is a ZF 8HP55AHIS

Oddly enough & in no way connected, a little panic is appearing among R35 GT-R owners as a few modified examples are throwing rods & suffering piston damage & it's now being advised that any (there are quite a few) with North of 600lbsft have the torque turned down a little.

It'd be interesting to see how dms or another tuner would react if the engine went pop and Audi rejected the claim as we're not talking small pennies hereW8PMC wrote:Totally agree, however the O/P was making a point that the advert was untrue by saying that car had the balance of it's Audi Warranty. Re: Spot the mistake(s)
They have the same insurance backed warranties that the mfctrs have (on a lesser scale of course). I'm sure some tuners cut corners but the quality ones such as MRC, Unit 20 & DMS would have no issue in making good:)Graeme4130 wrote:It'd be interesting to see how dms or another tuner would react if the engine went pop and Audi rejected the claim as we're not talking small pennies hereW8PMC wrote:Totally agree, however the O/P was making a point that the advert was untrue by saying that car had the balance of it's Audi Warranty. That's also possibly the single biggest factor in tuner's costs/charges. The better ones charge more as they offer a good quality warranty, the lesser ones charge less as have no/limited warranty costs. You get what you pay for & i for one would never dream of choosing a cheap tune on a quality vehicle.
