Is the RS4 sat nav the same as that fitted to the Golf Mk4, if so a mate of mine is running a full MTX system with factory sat nav.
If you really appreciate sound quality in your car I'd ditch the OEM kit. In my RS4 I have removed the head unit and all BOSE components, didn't have sat nav, use portable unit instead, but still find the noise level of Symphony/Bose combo very disappointing.
I have fitted Alpine head, MD and CD changers, interface for Nav's audio to headunit and Mobile Hub. Amp wise I use a Phoenix Gold line driver and 31 band EQ into Phoenix Gold amps which run my Diamond Audio M6 components actively.
Sound quality is superb, very pleased with it all and surprised that time alignment works so well on the Alpine side of the setup.
I'm sure you can get the standard nav, have a chat with http://www.satnavsystems.com/#. These guys know their stuff and I'm sure will advise you well.
